VIDEO/PHOTOS: Hundreds Take Part In CBS The Green Fun Run

THERE was brilliant sunshine for runners at the inaugural CBS The Green 5k and 3k Run on Sunday.

There were 465 runners taking part, as a family atmosphere greeted everyone arriving at the school with a bouncy castle and children’s play facilities. There was also a chance to pose for photos with the Tommy Markham Cup won by the Kerry minors in Croke Park recently.

The run, which took place at 1pm, was a fundraiser for the proposed new astro-turf facility to be constructed in the school grounds.

There were plenty of prizes on the day and a medal for all participants, who enjoyed post-race refreshments.

The winner of the Men’s Run was Tommy O’Brien, followed by Jason Gavin, with Kenny Foran (CBS 5th Yr student) in third.

The Ladies Run was won by Sharon Cahill with Catherine O’Sullivan in second and Ciara Tierney third home.

The first former student winner was Stephen Reidy of Kilflynn, a leaving cert student in 1997.

Other results were:

1st – First Year Student – Philip Evans.

1st – Second Year Student – Luke Chester.

1st – Third Year Student – Joseph Looby Lugandu.
