WELL 11 couples fought the law, but the law won on Friday night, as two gardaí were the overall winners at the St Pat’s Strictly Come Dancing event in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
Mary Gardiner and Johnny Enright were the most fleet-footed of the bunch as they dazzled the crowds to claim the overall crown, while the judges – Michael O’Connor, Terry O’Brien and Toireasa Ferris – chose Eileen Whelan and Kevin Boyle as their winners.
The ‘red-alert’ rain didn’t deter the hundreds from showing up to enjoy the fantastic night’s entertainment, while the club benefitted hugely from the event in aid of paying for the new astro-turf facility at their Blennerville base.
The 12 couples put on some show for the huge crowd of supporters, who sported banners and shouted encouragement while they shone during their group and individual performances, while Radio Kerry’s Elaine Kinsella and Tim Moynihan proved brilliant hosts on the night.
