NOW it’s looking very good indeed.

Garveys Tralee Warriors were on the road at the weekend to meet a team one place above then in the Men’s Superleague Table,  UCD Marian.

Well it was a thrilling game last night in Dublin in which Tralee emerged victorious and they now lie in third place with a top four finish guaranteed. It’s an incredible opening season which the whole town should embrace as a super success story.

In last night’s game, UCD got off to a flying start and after the first quarter, led by 25 to 19.

The Dublin side kept up the pressure in the second quarter and with a vocal home crowd behind them, they led 52 to 35.

A 17 point lead at half time is formidable, but Tralee’s spirit in their debut season has confounded any doubters.

They pegged their way back in the third to leave just an eight point gap (68-60) heading into the last quarter.

Incredibly, they turned it around and led by 79 to 78 with four minutes to go. They kept up the momentum and finished 93 to 90 winners much to the delight of the travelling support.

Next week is another huge game against second place Griffith Swords Thunder – six points above them in the table – at the complex and with this team on a roll it will no doubt see another sellout.

It’s will also be an occasion to honour the Tralee team who won the 1996 championship so the complex is the place to be next Saturday. What a great year…so far!
