Volunteers Collect Over 30 Bags Of Rubbish From Banna Beach

BANNA Coastcare’s first ever evening event last night and it was a huge success despite the weather.

Approximately 50 volunteers, including lots of youngsters, collected around 33 bags which were picked up by Kerry County Council collected them from Banna today.

Salty Souls provided free hot chocolate to all the younger volunteers who spent about an hour cleaning up.

“Generally we find a mix of terrestrial and marine litter but due to the large crowds, and fine weather we found larger amounts of terrestrial litter, massive amounts of drink cans / bottles collected,” said Rachel Geary of Banna Coastcare.

They will be be arranging another clean up in August so watch out for notices on the Banna Coastcare Facebook page.
