A WALK, held a month ago from Kerins O’Rahillys clubhouse, has raised a phenomenal amount of money for three organisations.

The Grace Moran Memorial Walk was held on Sunday, November 11 and people turned out in their hundreds to remember the popular Kerries lady who died in November, 2017.

When all the money was collected from sponsorship cards and donations, the total raised came to €17,664 which will be shared evenly between  Pieta House, Tralee MS and Cuan Mhuire.

“We greatly appreciate all the work you put in. Please God we’ll be around again this time next year as we hope to make it an annual event,” she said.

Con O’Connor of Pieta House said the almost €6,000 they received will save lives.

“It’s an outstanding amount of money, it’s absolutely brilliant. From a Pieta House point of view, the €6,000 will put six people through the service. That’s six people that Grace Moran will be responsible for saving their lives, which is a fabulous achievement,” he said, thanking the Moran family.

Henry Burrows, Chairman of the MS Society in Tralee also expressed his gratitude to the Moran family.

“It just shows how popular Grace and how highly she was thought of in the town such was with the amount of money raised. We will put this money towards our physio fund and Grace will always be in our thoughts,” he said.

Sr Agnes of Cuan Mhuire thanked organisers for their efforts. “I’d like to express how touched and how grateful we are Eileen and Jimmy, to all the fundraisers and everyone who took part in the walk.”
