Recovery Haven representatives accept a cheque for €12,700, the proceeds from the Jamie Wrenn Walk.

THE funds raised from a charity event held for the last six years has now passed the €82,000 thanks to the efforts of enthusiastic walkers back in July.

The seventh Jamie Wrenn Walk was held in aid of Recovery Haven this year and the proceeds from it totalling €12,700 were presented recently to the facility.

Over 80 people took off on that July morning to enjoy the walk from the Aqua Dome to Castlegregory – with a few stops along the way.

The walk is named after Castlegregory man Jamie Wrenn who, back in 1999, began a charity walk in aid of cancer services that has become a long standing tradition. A cancer sufferer himself, unfortunately Jamie lost his battle with the disease in 2008.

In 2010 with the permission from the Wrenn family, the walk was revived and since then over €82,000 has been raised for charities including Kerry Hospice.
