Walkers ‘Paint It Pink’ Through The Town At The Weekend

A 5K CHARITY walk for the ‘Paint it Pink’ breast cancer awareness initiative took off from The Greyhound Bar on Sunday.

“We did it because myself and participants involved know people who have cancer and we thought it would be a good cause,” said one of the organisers David Walsh.

So far the group have raised almost €400 from donations.

‘Paint it Pink’ is the Irish Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Campaign encouraging people across Ireland to hold their own pink fundraiser in their community or at work, to do something pink to raise vital life-saving funds supporting breast cancer research and support service.

The walk set off from The Greyhound and went up past Shanakill, over by Killeen, down Oakpark. The last leg turned in by Brewery Road, down Rock Street and back to the Greyhound where drinks and refreshments provided by Lee Strand and Dunnes Stores.
