DINGLE rock band, Walking On Cars, were on hand recently to help present cheques to two very worthy causes after they performed in a charity concert in the INEC last month.
After the Killarney Festival of Music and Food was cancelled, the band were part of the series of pop up concerts and comedy which took place in the INEC Killarney on June 27 and 28.
The Oncology Unit in Kerry General Hospital and Cuan Counselling were the beneficiaries of the concert staged by the INEC and received cheques for €4,000 each.
The spontaneous two-day pop up festival was organised in just three days and featured performances by Walking on Cars, Mundy, Damien Dempsey, Mick Flannery, Penrose, Moxie, Lisa Seavers, The Little Hours, and The Booka Brass Band along with comedians Jason Byrne, Karl Spain, Barry Murphy and Aprés Match.
Speaking after the weekend a spokesperson for Walking on Cars said; “It was great to see everybody out to support the community, we would like to thank everybody for offering their help and time to make the whole thing possible.”
Cuan Counselling is a non-profit, low cost, accessible and professional counselling and therapy service for young people aged 12-25years and their families in West Kerry.
The Oncology Unit at Kerry General Hospital provides treatment and care for patients suffering from cancer.
