IRISH TV Tralee Warriors lost their first Men’s Superleague game last night in Cork, as UCC Demons ran out 92-77 winners.
It was a great effort for their first game against the champions, especially as the team is only finding their feet after being together for such a short period.
They were level at end of the first quarter at 21 each and Warriors were just five points adrift by half-time. By the end of the third, Demons had stretched that lead to nine (63-54), but Tralee kept in touch and when Darren O’Sullivan scored a lay up with 7:29 left on the clock, Tralee was just seven behind.
However, the Cork side, buoyed by the home crowd, showed why they’re champions by pulling away towards the end to win.
Irish TV Tralee Warriors top scorers on the night were Dusan Bogdanovic 16, Kieran Donaghy 15 and Darragh O’Hanlon 14.
Let’s hope a huge crowd turns up for the Warriors first home game next Saturday night against Belfast Star at the Tralee Regional Sports Complex at 8pm.
