While their senior counterparts are focussing on a must win trip to UCD Marian on Saturday, the Warriors U20s face a big test of their own when they take on Maree in the quarter final of the U20 National League at the Tralee Sports Complex on Sunday.

The Warriors young guns have overcome allcomers in the group stages of the competition and qualified for the final eight by topping Group 3 with a perfect five from five record.

The Tralee side began their season with a 78-71 win away to Limerick Celtics and followed that up by easily accounting for Quish’s Ballincollig by 91-72 at the Tralee Sports Complex.

Round Three saw them lower the colours of Neptune in Neptune Stadium by 77-66 before claiming the local bragging rights over Killorglin by an impressive 82-57 at Mercy Mounthawk.

A thrilling final round showdown with UCC Demons saw the contest go all the way to overtime before the Warriors asserted in the additional time to secure a 97-90 win in the end.

Daniel Bowler has been scorer in chief for the Tralee side averaging 24 points per game with Warriors senior player Aivaras Ousis equally effective from the field shooting 20 points per game.

Eddie Sheehy has been running the show from point guard and is one of the outstanding players in the competition.

He has been well supported by the dynamic Eoin Creedon and Gary Lynch, the strength under the boards of Donal O’Sullivan and the outside shooting of Evan Boyle.

The Warriors will also be looking to the likes of Phoenix Costello, Adam O’Keeffe and Jack Dakissia in their rotations.

They take on a Maree side who have seen off the challenges of Sligo, Moycullen, Titans and Athlone but succumbed at home to Limerick Sports Eagles. The Oranmore outfit features former St. Brendan’s and Warrior Mikey McCarthy.

The other quarter finals see Drogheda Wolves host Tolka Rovers, Titans at home to Limerick Celtics and Templeogue facing Malahide BC in an all Dublin affair.

The Warriors will need to be at their best as they look to secure another home date for the semi-final. Tip off on Sunday afternoon at the Tralee Sports Complex is 4.00pm. Admission is €5.00 and with the Warriors seniors away this weekend it is an opportunity to see the Warriors future stars in action in what promises to be a cracking contest.
