A SATURDAY night in January was brightened up in a big way for basketball fans last night as Garvey’s Tralee Warriors enjoyed a ten point win in the Men’s Superleague.

After a good win away in Belfast last week, the home side was hoping to keep up their fine home form this season when they faced KUBS BC at Tralee Sports and Leisure Complex.

Warriors didn’t disappoint and led 19-17 at the end of the first quarter. Despite a lower scoring second quarter, they extended their lead to 30-24 by the half-time break.

The interval was a chance for the Kingdom Wheelblazers Club members to show their skills and the crowd really enjoyed it.

A very competitive third quarter saw KUBS narrow the gap and going into the last 15 minutes, Warriors led  by just three at 47-44.

But as so often has happened this season, the home crowd spurred on the Warriors to pull away from the Dublin side to win 67 to 57.

Trae Pemberton was once again prominent in the victory scoring 26 points with Kieran Donaghy on 20 and Goran Pantovic amassing 1o points. Another great win then and the aim of a playoff place very much alive.
