THE archives section of the RTE website throws up some great footage of Ireland in the past and this latest clip should be of interest.

Back in 1967, the late Bill O’Herlihy was working in a programme called ‘Newsbeat’ which visited Tralee (population 12,000) and asked the folks there about the appointment of a mayor, if it would add dignity and status to Tralee’s international image and give the town known so well outside of Ireland an equal status within the country.
