“OH to be a, oh to be a Rockie!”

Stacks fans woke up this morning with the sweetest feeling in the world…a winning one. It was a truly memorable afternoon for all involved in Austin Stacks GAA Club as everything went right for them on county final day.

Watch a short clip below (edited by Olivia Crean) of the fans marching to the stadium and experiencing the joy of the final whistle…

The supporters gathered at base in Connolly Park from the early afternoon before setting off on their colourful parade through town.

There were brief stops along the way outside The Castle Bar, the Brogue Inn and outside Celsius on The Mall for a few chants and songs.

Then it was up to Austin Stack Park where the majority of the fans went on the terrace leaving the stand mainly to the Blue side of town.

The singing and cheering continued right through the game and only got louder once the final whistle went and they invaded the pitch to hail their heroes. Here’s some images of the Rockie fans on the day…

  1. What a great behaviour of all participants in regards to social distancing and appropriate face covers. I hope they´ll get treated by the GAA in two weeks time, when they might have serious issues with Covid, rather than blocking space in the hospital for other sick patients with more attention to current restrictions.
