Students do battle during the ‘Throw Out The Blues’ event.

STUDENTS at IT Tralee held an unusual event at the college last week to highlight the importance of mental health issues.

Organised by the I.T.Tralee SVP Society “Throw out the Blues” was a colour-run type event where they pelted the bejaysus out of each other with paint balls, all as part of Mental Health Awareness Day at the college.

It was held last Tuesday in association with Jigsaw Kerry, Recovery Haven Kerry, Aware Kerry who were on campus for the day providing information on the services they offer.

There were two teams against each other, mimicking the battle that people with mental health issues go through daily. The event was open to all students and was free charge to show students how important it is to maintain positive mental health.

This time of year can be very stressful for students, and by providing the opportunity to engage in a fun event on campus it helps the students to de-stress and enjoy campus life. See a video of the action and photos below…
