KERRY Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre is looking for people to take part in a fundraiser they call ‘Pedal in the Park’.
“I got the idea from watching the World Cup,” said Majella Forde, newly appointed head of fundraising for Kerry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre.
“We will start the competition with 16 contestants, then eight, then four, until eventually we have our last two for the Pedal in the Park final,” she said
“I’m appealing to workplaces in particular as it’s an ideal way for everyone to get involved in something a little different,” she said.
“The response has been good so far we’ve had a lot of enquiries, so we’re just trying to get the word out there,” she said.
Every year Kerry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre needs to raise about 30% of their annual budget which translates to about 60 or 70 thousand euro annually.
“We’ve been busy lately and it’s part of an overall drive to raise money to make up the short falls in funding,” she said
