Gardaí attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a jeep and a car that occurred at approximately 8am today, on the N21, at Meenleitrim, Castleisland.
The sole occupant of the car, a female in her 20s from Kerry, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the jeep was taken to University Hospital Kerry with non-life threatening injuries.
The scene at the crash site was preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local Coroner was notified.

The road was closed to traffic but reopened later on Wednesday afternoon. Gardaí at Tralee are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, particularly any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage.
