AN amazing €7,000 was donated to the Recovery Haven centre in Haig’s Terrace by Beaufort Vintage Threshing group on Thursday.

The fantastic sum was raised as part of the ‘Thrashing Cancer’ event held at Brendan Ferris’s farm in Beuafort last September.

“We are so grateful, to raise that amount is just brilliant,” said Eileen Kennedy of Recovery Haven.

“We’re always trying to raise funds here in the house so when you get a group that are prepared to help us, it makes our lives much easier,” said Eileen.

The €7,000 sum, donated by the Beaufort Threshing group, will go towards paying for counsellors for children in Recovery Haven.

“As of yet, we have been just counselling adults, but now the processes are in place so that children can also get this help,” she said.

Through their incredible fundraising initiatives, Beaufort Threshing, in total, raised a whopping €25,000. The other beneficiaries of their charity work are, the oncology unit in Kerry General Hospital, who received €15,000 and the Hospice unit in St Joseph’s Nursing Home, Killorglin, who received €3000.

“We’re very proud of our charity work,”  said Brendan Ferris of Beaufort Thrashing.

“Recovery Haven provides a great service, in particular for those who have nobody,” said Brendan.

“It’s very important for cancer sufferers to have a place where they can get away from their own environment and receive care. Something I am very impressed with is the counseling for children, which will be vital,” he said.
