Senior Credit Union Co League Division 1 Rd 1.

Kerins O Rahillys  0-8

Kilcummin 1-7

Kilcummin came away with a valuable two league points when they withheld a strong Strand Road challenge played at the Caherina grounds in windy conditions.

Strand Road could feel aggrieved when what looked a definite penalty was given as a free out mid way through the second half . We played with the strong wind in the first half and points by Tom Hoare and two points from Barry John Keane had us ahead by 0—3 to Kilcummins no score at the 6th minute .

Kilcummin did reply with two points but we finished the half strong and two Barry John Keane frees had us ahead at half time by 0—-5 to Kilcummins 0–2 . The second half saw Kilcummin with the strong wind and by the 36th minute they had reduced the gap to a point K.O.Rahillys 0–5 to Kilcummins 0—4.

Barry John Keane increased our lead with a pointed free at the 40th minute 0—6 to      Kilcummins 0—-4 , but the sides were level at the 45th minute 6points each. The sides were level at 7 points each again by the 54th minute , then the penalty incident and the goal that was the turning point of the game when a long ball that was sent in by Kilcummin that seemed to be going wide but came back off the p ost and Kilcummin worked it to the net . leaving them ahead by 1—–7 to K.O.Rahillys 0—–7 and 5 minutes left .

We had our final score from Karl Mullins when his shot blazed over the bar . And so ended a disappointing start to this seasons campaign, however considering we were without county players Tommy Walsh and David Moran , with injury also depriving us of Jack Savage and Conor Hayes among others , this experience will bring us on and give management plenty to work with going forward.

Division 5 Senior Co League

Austin Stacks 0-08  Kerins O’Rahillys 1-03

In what were very testing conditions in Connolly Park a very young side went down narrowly to put near neighbours despite a very strong second half performance with top performers Sean Griffin and Rian McLysath and goalscorer Conor O Sullivan.

Sympathy: We extend our sincere sympathy to the family of Timmy Sheehan Oakpark and Austin Stacks GAA Club on his recent passing. May he Rest In Peace.
