You Don’t Expect To Find This In A Dallas Bar

The Hilsers Tralee clock behind the bar in ‘The Crafty Irishman’ in Dallas, Texas.

THERE’S no getting away from Tralee, no matter where you go.

Lorraine Walsh from Kerins Park is on holiday in the US at the moment and she sent on this photo of a clock which takes pride of place behind the bar in ‘The Crafty Irishman’ in Dallas, Texas.

Lorraine Walsh.

It has ‘J. Hilser & Sons Tralee’ name on it, a business which has been operating in Tralee for around 107 years, now owned by well-known jeweller, Billy Nolan.

The owner of the bar, Alan Kearney, hails from Dublin. A staff member told Lorraine last night that it was his most valuable possession in the bar and only he is allowed to wind it up.

Apparently, the clock was made in America in the early 1900s and imported to Ireland where the face was put on by the Hilsers family. It was sold in Tralee and now has ended up back in the States.
