A MOTHER of an 11 month child felt intimidated and frightened when two strangers asked her if they could take her baby out of the buggy and take photos of him.

Melanie Clancy from Killeen contacted TraleeToday.ie as she wanted to warn other parents about the incident in town on Friday.

Melanie was walking down Castle Street with her son when she passed two men. The men, both of whom spoke with foreign accents, caught up with her and kept asking questions about whether the child was a boy or a girl.

“After a while they went into a shop and I thought they were gone,” Melanie told us. “But then they reappeared as I was turning up Moyderwell and one of them asked if they could take him out the buggy to play with him and if they could take photos of him. At that stage I just fled from them,” said Melanie.

“I felt really uncomfortable and intimidated so I decided to go downtown and report the incident,” she said.

Melanie said the Gardaí told her they would look into it and would examine CCTV footage of the area at the time in an attempt to find out who they are.

“I really would just like all parents to  be aware of these men and their strange behaviour,” she said.
