Zoe’s World: There Is Nothing Wrong With Having Confidence

Posted by

Zoe 1I OFTEN wonder what other people’s interpretation of me is. It is probably not the most productive of pastimes, nor is it 100% healthy; but it still tends to pop into my thoughts every now and then.

I have friends, so I think that means that some people at least must have a good interpretation of me.

However, as a human race, we tend to focus more on the negative opinions than the positive ones. People’s general opinion of me tends to focus on the fact that I can come across as quite confident.

Now I feel like there is no further need to beat around the bush; there is nothing wrong with being confident. (Not that I am quoting any popular songs or anything) I think confidence is often perceived incorrectly.

People seem to confuse confidence with being stuck up or being conceited. So clearly they are sorely misinformed or they have their own issues. Personally, I don’t always see myself as a super confident person.

But, for the most part, I do have the confidence to do things that other people may not. I did start my own YouTube channel and I do a lot of fashion related things, so I guess both of these activities can be placed in the confident box…

I wear what clothes I want to wear (even though I still fear judgement for these decisions), I am not afraid to laugh in public, or answer questions in class. So I guess to classmates that I don’t know that well, I have been perceived as a complete and utter… well you get the gist.

This is of course brutally unfair, but let us forget about me for a second. How about you? How do you think that you are perceived by others? Or what do you think of those who are confident? Do you look down on them as being stuck up and ‘all about themselves’, or do you applaud them for displaying such confidence.

I hope that it is the second one. It takes a lot for a person to be confident. It takes a lot for a person to reach the stage where they will stand by their own opinions and be comfortable in their own skin.

Even if it seems like certain people completely have it all together, and have the confidence to walk into a room full of lions or dragons; you never know what they may actually be thinking, or what they did to get to that stage in their lives.

I guess this is both a lesson on confidence and one on judgement. Confidence is not something to judge a person on; it is something to be applauded as well as desired.

I am not in fact all about myself, most confident people tend not to be, I am just happy enough to chat away to a variety of brick walls and sometimes I can even talk to a room full of people.

Confidence is a good thing. Confidence is more than just a personality trait, it is a stage of self-security that you have to fight to achieve, and sometimes it can be hard to hold onto. Don’t judge people or hold people in contempt, for attaining such a skill that you may not yet possess.

This lecture is officially over and you may go back to listening a certain Demi Lovato song (hint: the title is the keyword of this article).

Enjoy the Sun x
