Zoe’s World: I Hate Facebook…But The Positivity Trends Are Good

Zoe O'Connor 1I AM never on Facebook. The only time I log on is for some shameless self promotion every once in a while.

My hatred for Facebook is mostly because I am sick of the constant trends that are circling. My feed is always full of either one trend or the other.

If it isn’t something that dominates all social media – like the ice bucket challenge or the no makeup selfie – then it is something that wants to breed positivity.

Like when people offer to write something positive on your feed on a random day, or even the 100 days of happiness trend that people did.

Sure, it’s annoying when all of these trends block up your feed of valuable Facebook news, but we should embrace the cheesy messages of the Facebook world.

I don’t think that a bit of positivity will block up your life.

As an Irish nation, we tend to focus on the negatives. An ironic example would be how I focused on the negatives of the Facebook chains.

We are the gossips, but when we gossip we talk about the good things that happen to people and taint it with our commentary. Rather than embracing people’s success.

We are afraid to say it when something good happens to us. We are afraid that the next time that we put up one of these lucky charm statutes that no one will comment saying that they want to be part of it, because we have become the next source of negative gossip just for being successful.

I know that I have been talking around in circles (or writing around in circles) but I am trying to connect with the whole social media thing. Considering you adults seem to think that just because I am a teenager, I know absolutely everything about social media but I digress.

If you have learned anything from this, other than Facebook trends, is that we should embrace the cheesy positivity, because any level of positivity is good.

Trust me.
