Zoe’s World: Life Is For Living You Know?

Zoe 1YOU know that feeling when you reach the end of a week and you have absolutely no idea what you actually did?

Your life just kind blends into one until you are left with vast periods of your life gone. You can’t just hit rewind.

When you eventually reach this realisation, the incredibly tacky and overused phrase of “You Only Live Once” (more commonly known as YOLO) immediately pops to mind.

I think that there are two things that alert this mode of thinking. Option number 1 being that you have realised that you are simply drifting through life with no real defining moments.

Option number 2 being that you have lost someone close to you, and you have been struck by the realisation that life really is that short.

When you are in this frame of mind, some concepts that you may have been practicing for your entire life suddenly seem totally pointless and irrelevant.

I know that I may be speaking from a shopaholics point of view right about now, but an example of the abolishment of certain concepts, just happens to be saving.

Why save all your money when you may not be here tomorrow? Why not define your day and make it memorable by adding a few extra items to your wardrobe?

Or why not go to Paris next weekend? That will define that your weekend at least. It may even define your instagram feed.

The thing is that the realisation pops in and out throughout your life (I know, I know; I have grown wise in my 16 years). You can never really live in that mind-set forever.

Life steps in for a while and you get sidetracked, you fall into routine until the whole process begins again.

I think that with the bills and the responsibilities that you adults have to deal with, you often forget about the whole reason that you are on this planet.

It’s not to sort out all your cash in a bank account or over-analyse your gas bill; it is about living. Living life.

I am very into the whole philosophy of the world and the whole “why are we are here” argument but I am pretty sure that if you were to narrow it down, living life would probably be the bottom line.

And considering that myself and my mom just flew to Paris for 36 hours for my 16th birthday, you could say that I am following my own advice.
