Zoe’s World: It’s A Magical Time Of The Year In Tralee

Zoe O'Connor 1PREPARE yourselves people, because I am about to do the totally cliché thing where I wish you a Merry Christmas.

But before I get too mushy on you all, I just wanted to share the magic that I have been experiencing in Tralee.

If you haven’t been listening to Christmas songs lately (which would shock me considering they are being blasted at you from every direction), they are all telling you what a magical time of year this is. I can’t disagree with them.

Let’s face it, even the hipsters can’t deny how awesome this stuff makes you feel. I know that they will probably have a conversation about how their early stuff was much better before they got commercialised, while running a hand through their beards and fixing their quiffs…But that is besides the point.

Even if this is the most orchestrated holiday of them all, at least it is a happy one filled with Mariah Carey’s high notes.

While I was walking among the music in Tralee the other day, I realised how happy everyone looked. I definitely was not the only one experiencing this, as I felt like everyone has just gathered in the town centre and we were all madly bustling around, elbows pointed, trying to get to the last Christmas jumper in every shop.

My mom has already briefed me on where to tell people to go in the town if they really feel the need to get her a Christmas present! She believes in keeping it local – but she doesn’t come cheap! Text me for more information.

Personally, a trip to O’Neill’s Pharmacy for some Ren or CH for some Benefit, would not go too far astray.

What I am basically trying to reinforce for you here is that you don’t need to stray too far from the town to experience the glow that Christmas brings to people.

I know that sometimes the crowds can be a bit of a hassle, but when there are crowds, there are so many people that you know. So many last minute Christmas catchups that you could miss if you don’t participate.

Hey, you could even bump into someone that nearly left you off their Christmas list, now that would just be a crying shame wouldn’t it.

So, considering this will be the last time you hear from me before the wrapping paper is torn open, I do want to wish you a very Merry Christmas as well as a very mushy thank you for bothering to stay with me for this long.

Now, don’t worry, it still isn’t too late to pick me up a present from maybe Winter’s Displays or maybe Paco, Hannon’s, Jasmine, Pamela Scotts, Rockalilly, DV8, Carraig Donn. Okay I will stop now…

Merry Christmas!
