A VERY Carrie Bradshaw inspired soft pink dress with full tulle skirt caught the eye of fashion judge Emily O’Donoghue and won Grace Flynn from Pallaskenry, Limerick, the coveted title of Listowel Races Best Dressed Lady at the June Bank Holiday meeting on Sunday (for more photos from the day click here).

Grace originally bought the dress from Phoenix V for her appearance on RTE’s programme ‘First Dates Ireland’.

She paired it with a headpiece from Hats Amore from Wexford and beautiful shoes by Kate Appleby.

She received €500 in cash sponsored by Listowel Race Company and a beautiful bouquet of flowers sponsored by Emma in Betty McGrath Florists Listowel.

First runner up was well known boutique owner, Diane Jeffers, resplendent in a chic fitted white dress with matching cape from Jasmine Tralee set off with a very Riviera style straw hat from Penneys. She won €250 and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

This year, Ladies Day was extra special and also poignant – as Listowel Race Company and the people and businesses of Listowel town – remembered a dedicated racer-goer and follower of fashion the wonderful Betty McGrath who sadly passed away after an illness last year.

In her honour, there was a special category for the Most Fashion Forward Headpiece, and this was won by Denise O’Connor from Brosna in Co. Kerry. Denise wore a vibrant lime green, eye-catching mesh disc headpiece from Hat Hire by Caroline (Galway) paired with a beautiful sapphire blue suit.

She won €250 sponsored by the traders of Listowel town, a specially commissioned headpiece by top award winning milliner Aoife Hannon and a voucher from the Lingerie Rooms by Elaine Stack in Listowel.

Each of the 7 other finalists received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco sponsored by John J Galvin.

Racing continues tomorrow Monday and admission is €15 with special rates for OAP and students.

The June Meeting is the first of two race meetings at the scenic Listowel Race Course, with the second 7 day Harvest Racing Festival meeting on from Sunday 18th to Saturday 24th of September 2022.

A DISAPPOINTING day once again for the Kerry hurlers as they were beaten for the third year in a row in the Joe McDonagh Cup final.

A sunny Croke Park was the venue for a thrilling final but, despite a late goal, Kerry couldn’t catch Antrim and went down by 5-22 to 4-24.

They gave their all and weren’t short of support from the green and gold faithful who made the long journey on the day.

Radio Kerry commentator Mike O’Halloran captured some images of the fans before the game and kindly passed them onto us. Scroll down for photos…

Édaein O’Connell Selected As New Kerry Rose At Siamsa Tíre

TraleeToday.ie’s coverage of the Kerry Rose 2022 selection is brought to you by AIB Tralee…

.
The new Kerry Rose, Édaein O’ Connell.

SALLY Ann Leahy finally gave up the Kerry Rose title she has held since 2019 tonight, as the lady who will represent the county at the festival this year was announced  at Siamsa Tíre.

After an entertaining selection night and much deliberation from the judges — Ger Carmody, Bríd McElligott and Sheila Lawlor — Édaein O’Connell was announced as Kerry Rose 2022 by host Daithi Ó Sé.

Édaein O’ Connell hails from Glenderry, near Listowel. Born and bred in the north Kerry area, she was schooled at both Dromclough National School and the Presentation Convent Secondary School in Listowel town. At 17, she attended NUIG in Galway city to study Civil Law.

.

After this, she completed a higher diploma in Business Studies at the same institution and a masters in digital marketing from DIT in Dublin city.

She planned on seeking out a career in just social media management, but when fast food chain McDonalds swiped caramel sundaes from its menu, she happened upon a career in journalism.

Writing on everything from fashion to travel to pop culture, she has written for the likes of the Irish Independent, the Sunday Times Style Magazine, Metro UK and more.

In her spare time, she is an avid reader and a keen singer, having won two All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil titles back in the day.
