SENIOR FOOTBALL: Fixtures for the first round of the Co. Championship have come to hand with our historic game against Na Gaeil opening the proceedings on Friday night week (9thSept) at 8pm. This will be the first time ever that the two sides are meeting in the competition. Sixteen teams (eight Club and eight Divisional) will be taking part this season, divided into four groups of four. Along with ourselves and Na Gaeil in Group 3 are Mid Kerry and West Kerry. Group 1 is comprised of Dr. Crokes, Kenmare Shamrocks, Shannon Rangers and St. Kierans. In Group 2 we have Dingle, East Kerry, Kerins O’Rahillys and Spa and in Group 4 we have Feale Rangers, South Kerry, St. Brendans and Templenoe. The top two teams in each Group will qualify for the quarter finals which will be knock-out from then on.
B FOOTBALL: The Molyneaux Cup (the B team Co. Championship) gets underway on this Friday evening (2nd Sept) with an away game for us against Rathmore B. Throw-in at 6.30pm. The other quarter final games are Gneeveguilla at home to Kerins O’Rahillys; Milltown/Castlemaine at home to Dr. Crokes and Glenflesk at home to Laune Rangers. The winners go through to the semi finals and the losers go through to a Shield semi final to be played on the following Friday (9th Sept).
THE C TEAM: The Barrett Cup (the C team Co. Championship) also starts on this Friday evening with a similar format to the Molyneaux Cup. In round 1 (quarter final) we have a home game against Ballydonoghue B with Churchill at home to Annascaul; Keel at home to Reenard and Waterville at home to Currow in the other three quarter finals. All games start at 6.30pm. The semi finals are scheduled for the following Friday (9th Sept).
MINOR FOOTBALL: For the first time at Minor level there will now be a Club Championship competition, commencing on this coming Saturday. There will be eight teams in five groups. There will be a quarter final, a semi final and a final in each group. The four quarter final losers will go into a Shield semi final. The quarter final pairings in our Group A are – ourselves away to Rathmore; Kenmare Shamrocks .v. Dr. Crokes; Keel/Listry .v. Kilcummin and Laune Rangers .v. Ardfert. All these games are fixed for this coming Saturday (3rd Sept) at 4pm. The winners will go through to the Club semi final with the losers going to a Shield semi final.

GARDAI are appealing for witnesses to an assault which occurred in The Square last week.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning where a young man was punched by another man. Footage of the incident was widely circulated on social media.

Kerry Petroleum Senior Club Football Championship semi final:Spa 0-16 Kerins O’Rahilly’s 1-16 )
A penalty converted by Kerry senior Jack Savage in the 40th minute proved crucial as Kerins O’Rahilly’s saw off the challenge of a gallant Spa side but only after extra time in this Kerry Senior Club Championship semi-final played at the Spa GAA Grounds, Killarney. They will now play Templenoe in the club final later in the year.
Spa have been the surprise packets of this year’s Senior Club Championship. They beat Dingle and Na Gaeil and drew with Kenmare Shamrocks to top their group.
They were now meeting last year’s beaten county championship finalists Kerins O’Rahilly’s in the semi-final in an acid test of how far they’d come.
The Tralee side were dealt a couple of body blows in recent weeks, losing Cormac Coffey, their outstanding attacking defender who has moved to Dubai, and Tommy Walsh picked up an injury against Austin Stacks and will be out for a couple of more weeks,and Donagh Buckley out for remainder of season.
Conor Hayes and Con Barrett are also rehabbing from injury so Kerins O’Rahilly’s were not at full strength.
But this epic was keenly fought with referee Sean Joy issuing multiple yellow cards, four black cards and two red cards, much to the bemusement of the large attendance.
Spa looked the better side in the opening half as Kerins O’Rahilly’s lost two players to black cards, Gavin O Brien after just three minutes and Jack Savage were the first to go in the 12th minute after a running battle with his Kerry teammate Dan O’Donoghue which continued all game until both received second yellows in the 54th minutes and two reds followed.
But there was also some excellent football played among the frequent flurry of cards and at half time Spa looked the better side leading 0-8 to 0-6. In fact, Spa led 0-5 to 0-1 at the end of the opening quarter thanks to points from Evan Cronin (3), Eoin Fitzgerald and Mike Foley while Jack Savage replied for Strand Road with a mark.
But with David Moran and Gavin O’Brien now dominant at midfield and Gearóid Savage working hard, the Tralee side fought back with a peach of a point from David Moran, and two Tom Hoare frees. Ryan Carroll, Evan Cronin and Mike Foley pushed Spa clear but Jack Savage returned from his black exile to kick two fine points and Spa retired 0-8 to 0-6 in front.
Tom Hoare then closed the gap to one from the throw in but David Spillane and Evan Cronin increased the lead to 0-10 to 0-7. Savage with another free and David Moran rolling back the years kicked a massive point to close the gap to a single point with 38 minutes gone.
Then came the pivotal moment in the 40th minute when big Diarmuid O’Sullivan was pushed as he tried to field a high ball in the box, and Jack Savage beat Devane low to the keeper’s right.
Now it was Spa who were chasing the game and when Evan Cronin leveled in the 63rd minute after Ross O’Callaghan had been black carded, Spa launched one final attack and Cian Tobin saw his effort for a winning point for Spa come back off the post and so to extra time.
Spa never scored in the opening period of extra time with Barry John Keane, Conor Hayes and T J Heaphy adding Strand Road points and though Conor Stack got a point back for a Spa, they conceded a second penalty and Barry John Keane tapped it over the bar as Kerins O’Rahilly’s just got over the line.

U12 GIRLS We welcomed Laune Rangers to Ballyrickard last Tuesday evening for fun games. We mixed our teams as did they .Twenty four girls togged out for us with everyone getting game time . Plenty of enjoyment had by all which is so important as it’s not all about winning at this age but having fun with your friends and team mates. Well done to everyone for their commitment and determination.

DISTRICT
This competition if we’re not mistaken commenced eight years ago. It is run by North Kerry. The districts are Tralee, North Kerry, St. Kierans, Feale Gaels and West Kerry.
The Tralee district team is made up of town clubs- Na Gaeil, Austin Stacks, Kerins O’ Rahillys, John Mitchels and Churchill.
The panel is made up of 24 players.
U13 DISTRICT
In the preliminary round on Wednesday, September 7th Tralee District will play St. Kierans. More details to follow.
U14 NORTH KERRY LEAGUE

We started out the strongest and looked in control in the first quarter when we lead by 0-04 to 0-01. Laune Rangers made a comeback bringing the half time score to 0-04 to 0-04. The Killorglin side got the upper hand in the second half and had a five point lead over us with 10 minutes to go. The next 10 minutes were hotly contested , a goal from Aoibheann McCarthy and bringing on Caoilainn Culloo brought us back into the game. We began to up the ante and took the lead with two minutes to go but a free kick from a foul was the equaliser. A fantastic comeback from our young ladies !
We will have to do it all over again…
A hectic week of action for all involved and a unique turn of events..
On Sunday afternoon last we took to the field in Pat Healy Park, Ballyrickard.
Unfortunately our U15s exited the championship at the hands of Laune Rangers in a super replay played in very warm conditions.
Rahillys got off to a great start with a goal from Aoibheann McCarthy and points from Taylor Stack and Saoirse O’ Connor MacCarthy.
As the half developed Laune Rangers came more into the game but Millie Hayes in goals and the full back line of Erika Slattery, Donna O’ Regan and Mia Molloy stood solid. These defenders were ably assisted by a hard working half back line Farah Leahy, Katie Higgins and Caragh Houlihan. Just before half time the Killorglin side rattled in three fast goals that saw Rahillys down eight points at half time.
In the second half Kelly Fitzgerald and Saoirse O’ Connor MacCarthy thundered into the game and Córa Meehan scored a smashing goal . Lily Breen, Aimee Turner , Aoife O’ Connell, Sara Reka and Fiadh McCarthy got on lots of ball and the lead was reduced to three points. In an end to end finish to the game Molly Casey made some good saves and Caoilainn Culloo was busy up front . In the finish Rahillys came up short in a great game . Well done to the management and squad.
U15 DISTRICT
On Friday, September 9th Tralee District have home advantage v West Kerry.
There will be a cup and shield final.
U17 CHAMPIONSHIP
Championship got underway last Thursday evening in Pat Healy Park, Ballyrickard.
We needed a victory as it’s a straight knockout and we produced in style.
After an excellent display by the blue and whites ( with the hint of pink) , we ran out winners on a score line of 6-11 to 4-09.
Congrats to our outstanding ladies and their coaches.
For the semi final we host Corca Dhuibhne . Throw in will be at 7p.m. in Ballyrickard. Hoping to see a great turnout of supporters again.

Juvenile Notes
Another busy morning for our Juvenile Academy with our U8 girls heading off to play St. Pats in Blennerville and our U9 Boys welcoming John Mitchell’s to Ballyrickard. While all our other age groups enjoyed another fun filled training session with their coaches.
U5 Boys – Our U5 Boys were having great fun with their coaches practicing their kicking and hand passing. They also enjoyed a few fun games and a little match amongst each other to finish off their training session.
U6 Girls – These girls show up to every training session with enthusiasm and always eager to learn from their coaches. Their skills have improved immensely over the last few months and this was clear to see on Sunday morning when they played a short match with each other.
U7 boys – U7 Boys had plenty games amongst themselves on Sunday morningwhere they showcased all the skills they have been practicing all summer. We also had another one of Barry John’s prodigies up with us today from the U5s, Cormac Hoffman, who scored the equaliser in the final game. Well done Cormac. A lot of the boys were at the Seniors game against Spa and are now really looking forward to supporting them in the final. Keep up the practice boys and one day it will be yereselves wearing those Senior Jerseys.
U8 Girls – U8 girls had a great turnout Sunday morning for the match with St. Pats with two teams togging out. They played two twenty Minute games each which was tough going in the heat . There was some very good football on display. Most of the girls had the confidence to try to solo which was great to see. There was some lovely scores on both sides along with some nice teamwork. Their understanding of positions and the roles involved is really starting to emerge. A great morning overall .
U9 Boys – Our U9 boys had a busy week as they played against Churchill on Wednesday night and they also played John Mitchels Sunday morning. They showed great team work throughout both games with some fantastic kicking and hand passes on display. Keep up the good work boys and ye too could be wearing those Senior jerseys in years to come. See you all next week for training.

Following an intense preparation training session on Friday night Tralee Parnell’s under 7’s travelled to Rathmore for an early morning blitz on Saturday. Tralee Parnells, Rathmore & Abbeydorney fielded two teams each and team played three matches. All teams displayed fantastic determination while also providing us with exciting matches to behold. Our boys once again gave everything they had and did the mighty blue and white Parnells proud.

Our U9s welcomed Kilmoyley to Caherslee on Tuesday evening. Following their three games the previous Friday, the team again showed great skill and teamwork and matched Kilmoyley puck for puck. The game finished with man of the match Sonny scoring a cracking goal to the top corner following brilliant teamwork up the pitch. Well done everyone! Thanks to Kilmoyley for travelling to Caherslee and for a great match.
Under 11 Camogie
Our u 11’s travelled to causeway for a blitz on Saturday morning. The girls played three great matches against Cillard, Abbeykillix and Causeway. The weather was warm but the girls kept going till the last whistle was blown. Great skills, effort and heart shown by all. A special call out to Lilly who played her first match! Well done ! This was great preparation ahead of upcoming U12s matches this week. Thank you to Causeway for hosting us and for the special treats afterwards!

It was a busy weekend with our hurlers representing Kerry at various age groups. Well done to Tomas O’Connell, Jack Canty, Will Sommers, Cian Harris, Eoghan Costelloe, Dan Moloney and Maor Uisce Donnacha Buttimer on the Kerry U15s in the John Doyle Shield in Borrisoleigh on Saturday. After a great win against Galway in the semi-final, they were beaten by a strong Cork side in the final. Well done boys!
Congratulations also to Parnells Brian Sargent (Kerry U14 Manager) Luke Chester (Strength & Conditioning coach) and players Luke Hanafin, David Sargent and Kyle Benson on the Kerry U14 panel who won the Sonny Walsh Shield in Waterford on Saturday. They overcame Meath in the semi Final and Wexford in the final. On the extended panel were Brian Reidy and Christian Kennedy.

Our Senior hurlers are in action against Causeway in the North Kerry Championship in Caherslee on Wednesday 31st at 7:30pm. Come along and support our lads as they take on the new County Champions.

Bingo Birthday: Na Gaeil Bingo Committee are delighted to announce that we are celebrating our 12th birthday this August. On Monday the 29th August from 7pm we will have refreshments to celebrate our 12th Birthday. Our Bingo’s continued success is down to our wonderful patrons that have supported our bingo for all these years and we are extremely grateful to all of them. A word of gratitude too to our long serving Bingo Committee who have given their time and energy to ensure that our Bingo continues to go from strength to strength for hopefully many more years to come.
Senior Ladies: Hard luck to our senior ladies who lost to Finuge/St. Senans last Monday in the first game of the senior county championship. Hopefully they can get back on track with a win when they play Rathmore away in round 2 tonight, Monday 29th.
U14 girls: Well done to our girls who defeated Austin Stacks last Tuesday night in the U14 North Kerry League by 8 points to 1-2.
U9 boys: The u9s travelled to Kilcummin last Tuesday evening and put on a fine display against a strong Kilcummin side. Then last Thursday our lads hosted St Senans in Na Gaeil. The boys played some fantastic football and improvements are being made match after match. Then yesterday we made the trip to Dingle to play the locals. Our numbers were very low but we still put on a great performance against a physical Dingle side. Well done boys.
U13 boys: Last Thursday we travelled to Killorglin to play Laune Rangers. Our Green team were first up at 6pm We had a great start and got on the scoreboard early with a goal and a point but Laune Rangers responded with a goal themselves making it only a point between them.
Our lads pushed on then and got two more goals and 5 points to Laune Rangers just a goal. We kicked another five points to Laune Rangers one point making the halftime score 3-11 to 2-01. Second half saw a great fight back from Laune Rangers and outscored us 3-4 to 1-4.
However our boys had enough done and finished worthy winners on a score line of 4-15 to 5-05. Our White team played at 7pm and this was another great contest as a whole but it was Laune Rangers who owned the first twenty minutes and led 1-06 to a 0-01.
Our lads worked extremely hard and got themselves a little closer at halftime with a score line of 1-08 to 0-04. To our credit in the second half we scored the first five points without reply making it 1-08 to 0-09 and went on to score another 0-03 to their 0-02 making it a one point game with ten minutes to go.
Eventually the goals we needed came and thegame finished out 2-13 to 2-12 at the final whistle. It was an epic game and thanks to Laune Rangers for two sporting games.
U13 boys: Last Sunday evening we hosted John Mitchels and again it was our Green team who played first at 5.30pm. Our lads played with great intent in the first half and worked really hard all over the field.
There was great football played by both teams but our Green team had the upper hand and went in 1-07 to 0-06 up at halftime. John Mitchels came out strong in the second half tightened things up big time and the game was nip and tuck all the way through the second half. Scores were well earned and our Green team showed great resilience and composure to finish out worthy winners 3-13 to 2-15.
Our White team played at 7pm and this was always going to be a tough contest against the Division 1 Co. League runners up who showed their worth by playing some great football in the first half.
They took great scores and our lads found it difficult to get to the pace of the game in the first fifteen minutes where we found ourselves trailing by 1-05 to 0-02. However as the half progressed we got ourselves back into it and made it 1-04 to 2-05. We were unlucky to concede 1-01 just before halftime making it 3-06 to 1-04.
However in the second half we came out and challenged for everything and worked really hard all over the field. After forty minutes the score line read 3-09 to 1-08 so it was the goals that were hurting us. The game continued on in great fashion and John Mitchels finished out deserved winners on the night with a score line of 3-12 to 2-10.
Thanks to John Mitchels for two great sporting games. Our good performances in the group stage of Division 1 Central Region, with four wins out of four for the Green team and Three wins out of four for the White team, have earned us home semi-finals which are to be confirmed.
St Brendans Board U15 boys: Hard luck to the Na Gaeil lads who are part of the St Brendans Board U15 team wholost to a strong West Kerry side in Blennerville last Wednesday in the semi-final of the u15 County Championship shield competition. Those lads are Iarla Hanafin, Jamie Schoenmaker, Ruadhan Clifford, Conor Lucey, Jeaic Canty, Liam Cooper, Paddy McElligott, Brian Heaphy and Cillian Griffin.
U17 boys: Na Gaeil minors lost out to Waterville/Dromid last Friday night in Waterville on a score line of 1-16 to 2-12.On a beautiful evening for football na Gaeil got off to a flyer running into a 1-2 to no score lead within the first 5 minutesbut trouble started then.
First Seán Warr got injured and was replaced by our only sub Fionn Heaslip which led to a reshuffle of the team. In this settling period Waterville/Dromid came back fighting and went ahead 1-9 to 1-6 by half time.
The rustiness in the first half was well gone in the second half and we were all treated to a fine open game of football from both sides. After using our only sub in the first half disaster struck at half time when Peter Doyle had to be withdrawn through injury also so for the entire second half na Gaeil played with 14 men but that gave them more fuel to not give in.
have potentially not just drawn this game but indeed maybe snuck a win. A hugely encouraging performance and enjoyable game by the boys, and they go into the shield semi final which is fixed now for the 10th September.

Training continued this Sunday in preparation for next Sunday’s blitz for the u10s.
Tanya took the girls through an excellent warm up before they got stuck into hand passing drills.
We then went into a game which the skill on show impressed all the coaches with some excellent build up play leading to scores and some excellent defending also, well done girls.
U12 Girls
Best wishes to all our U12 girls who are starting secondary school this week and to all those who are meeting their new class teachers.
It’s been a very busy summer and we are very thankful for all the effort and time that was given to the green and gold jersey.
We are anxiously waiting for news on the forthcoming Tralee town league , the girls have been putting in a massive effort in preparation.
Training resumes on Wednesday night at 7 and again on Sunday morning at midday.
U14 GIRLS
John Mitchels 8-12 Duagh 7-2
John Mitchels u14s had a comprehensive win over Duagh in their second-round game of the North Kerry League in Ballyseedy on Tuesday night.
With a loss in their first game, it was important to get a result from this game, and so it proved, with some excellent scores.
It was a quick start with early goals from Kerri and Lisa, and with a strong lead, the coaches were able to rotate the team, bringing on players from the bench.
This disruption to our defence allowed Duagh to get in for some scores, but we looked by far the stronger side, especially in attack, and were comfortable winners.
The next game is away to Listowel Emmets on Tuesday night and we hope to fulfill our back fixture with Currow later in the week.
U16 GIRLS

We had brilliant performances by both our U11 teams in Keel on Thursday evening ,our older boys struggled initially against a very skillful Keel but put in a fantastic second half performance.
Our younger boys got on top early against a youthful Keel and put in their best performance of the year so far.Well done boys. We train Sunday morning at 10.30am to 11 45 am.

UNDER 13 BOYS
Sunday evening saw the final round of games in the Central League, with both U13 teams making the short journey to Na Gaeil.
The Bs were first in action and in a tight tussle were just edged out by a single point.
Great credit to both teams in a fantastic evening for football.
Despite this our Bs have already qualified for the Central League semi-final and await remaining fixtures to decide who we face.

On Thursday evening last we trained in the sunshine under the watchful eye of our club coach and senior player Tomas kearns.We had a fairly good turn out with some very good defensive and attacking drills.
The Tralee District team play the final this Wednesday with a number of Mitchels players involved best of luck to all team and management training continues next Friday evening @5-30pm.

Upcoming Events
We are delighted to announce a couch to 5K running initiative led by Michelle Greaney. This is due to commence on Thursday 15th September. It will be progressive over 8 weeks on Thursday evenings setting off from St Pats, further details to follow. There will be another family fun day coming up towards the end of September. plans in process! This will be a good opportunity to swap preloved boots, runners & sports clothes for anyone who would like to get involved you can keep this in mind!
Betty McGrath Walk
On the 14th of September last year Bernadette O Callaghan nee McGrath, David, Tony, and Anton O Callaghan lost someone very close to them Bernadette’s Sister Betty, the McGrath and Moriarty Family have organised a walk which will take place on the 10th of September to remember the much-loved North Kerry woman. All proceeds from the Betty McGrath 12 km Walk will go to the Palliative Care Unit, with the walk marking Betty McGrath’s first anniversary. The walk takes place from 12 noon on Saturday, September 10 from The Junction Bar, Camp, walking along to Killelton Oratory on the Dingle Way, then on to Bunavoonder Strand, Bunahow, Kilgobbin Church of Ireland, Camp Upper, Ashe’s Cafe, Stepping Stones, Curraduff and back to The Junction Bar for refreshments. If you wish to donate, please do so on the below link.
Under 5s had a fun morning training, practising ball handling skills, agility moving through a minefield of volcanoes (aka cones). We had a short match before finishing up with a game of sharks and fishes. Well done to our players of the week Kai and Paulina.

U8 Girls
We had a great morning of football in St Pats vs Kerins O’Rahillys under 8s. A good turnout of 11 girls meant 2 matches & plenty of ball touches for each girl. We were very impressed by all the girl’s skills with solos & great kicking on display all round. The girls enjoyed playing against many school friends & enjoyed the experience. Back to training next week at 10.30am at St Pats. Any girls who have missed sessions due to holidays & commitments are most welcome back to finish out the season. The more numbers the better moving forward in our small club we are very proud of how the girl’s side is developing. Go St Pats.

We had a great session on Sunday where we focused on tackling and soloing before going into a fast-paced match. Noah Fealy and Nicolas O’Shea were the standout performers with Noah bursting from defence to kick some great scores and Nicolas making some big tackles
We play Na Gaeil on Monday and are looking forward to it.
U11 Boys
Last Thursday, 24 boys travelled back to Gallarus by bus to take on An Ghaeltacht in the Central Region Go Games. The two teams put in great displays and enjoyed the trip back west immensely. We also trained on Sunday morning where we worked on our basic skills as usual and then went into games with the focus on accurate passing and decision making. We are due to play two remaining games in the Central Region, Templenoe and Glenbeigh-Glencar. At the time of these notes going to print, we did not have confirmation of dates as of yet. If we don’t have a game this weekend, we will train on Thursday at 6:30pm.
U12 Girls
Churchill organised a Mini Blitz for the U12 Girls last Wednesday evening. Well done on a great performance by all the girls. We were up against some strong teams, but we improved after each game. We saw some great defending and lovely scores. Training continued on Sunday Morning, we were delighted to welcome Eleese to our u12 team who put in a fantastic training session with us, she has recently arrived from the Ukraine to the area.
U13
The Under 13 Central League sponsored by Kelliher’s Toyota Tralee continues with the St Pats / Kerins O’Rahillys team scheduled to play an away game in Cromane on Tuesday the 30th against a combined Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane team. On the following weekend our U13’s will be playing in an U13 blitz being run by the Currow club.

St Brendans were defeated in semi-final of the U 15 Shield competition by West Kerry on Wed last. A Hayes, R Clifford, J Costelloe, M Enright & D Murphy were squad members.

Minors
St Pats/ Kerins O Rahillys will begin their campaign in the Keane’s Supervalu Minor Club Football Championship ‘D’ Championship on Saturday 3rd of September at 4pm. We play in Round 1 against Duagh which takes place in Duagh.
Seniors
Our Seniors travelled to Killorglin last Sunday to take on St Michael’s Foilmore, this game was one that we had to come out on top. David O Callaghan and Fergal O Brien each put a point on the board. St Michael’s Foilmore scored the next three points, Kieran Hurley added a point which was answered with a point from opposition. This first half ended St Pats 0-03 St Michael’s Foilmore 0-04
The 2nd half began with three points and a goal without reply from the opposition, Kieran Hurley, and David O Callaghan each added their own point. Two points from St Michael’s Foilmore this was the last of their scoring in this half.
Five points from Kieran Hurley and two points from Cormac Lynch to draw us level in full time. Extra Time was needed and in the first ten minutes St Michael’s Foilmore scored just one point, points from David O Callaghan, Brian Murphy and Kieran Hurley brought us two points ahead.
As the 2nd half of extra time began St Michael’s Foilmore scored one point in this half. David O Callaghan, Kieran Hurley, and Brian Murphy each added their own points with the minutes counting we held the ball to finish the match St Pats 0-18 St Michael’s Foilmore 1-11. Well Done to all involved it was a hard-fought game throughout.

On Saturday night our senior men welcomed St. Senan’s for the quarter final of the Junior Premier Championship.
Regardless of the result this was to be the final home championship game of the year for Ballymac and a large crown turned. The sunny evening and hopeful expectations had all in attendance in eager anticipation for the game.
St. Senan’s started the game with a number of prolonged periods of possession but without making a serious impact on the scoreboard. Ballymac opened up a 4-point lead with a goal mid-way through the first half leaving the half time score at Ballymac 1:06 St. Senan’s 0:03.
The second half saw Ballymac start where they left off and by the 40 minute had scored 2 additional goals. With some of the intensity gone from the game both teams continued to play entertaining football. The game finished on a score of Ballymac 6:10 / St. Senan’s 0:10.

On what was a lovely night for football, a depleted and very young Ballymac side faced off against near neighbours John Mitchels. The opening exchanges were very tight on the scoreboard, though Ballymac were controlling possession, but were guilty of missing a number of outstanding goal chances. Indeed, it was a brave Mitchels side who opened the scoring from a free, which was answered by a splendid point from play by Kate Collins.
Then after missing two glorious chances of goals, Mitchels struck with a goal from a short Ballymac kick out that went wrong…This seem to have awoken the Ballymac ladies as they hit the Mitchels with 1-4 without reply in the next six minutes (the goal finishing off a great movement involving 8 Ballymac players and was finished to the net by Ella Quirke) Both sides swapped points, with Eve Creedon shooting some classy points, until Ballymac and Kate Collins made the decisive break with another goal just 3 minutes out from halftime, leaving Ballymac ahead by 6 points at the short break 2-7 to 1-4.
The second half began just as the first half had ended, with another goal from Kate Collins. The 5 minutes before half time and after saw Ballymac score 2-2 to Mitchels 1-1, as they built up a sizeable cushion.
Mitchels did finally break down an outstanding Ballymac defence with a well taken goal, but any chance of a resurgence was coldly put aside, Ballymac striking for 3 goals in 6 minutes to put the tie beyond doubt. The scorers were Ella Quirke, Rachel Creedon and Roisin Rahilly. With 10mins left the score stood at 6-8 to 2-5.
The Ballymac midfield of Aishling O’Connell and Keelin Enright were completely dominating and Grainne Galvin leading the defence from Full Back. The brave Mitchels did score another goal from a penalty with time almost up, leaving a final score of 6-10 to 3-7.

Unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of an enthralling game of football last Tuesday night. Unusually a score of 7-15 was not enough to win the game.

Heartbreak again on Thursday night for the majority of the U15 side as we lost out again narrowly to our neighbours Firies by a score of 3-4 to 5-5. These Ladies now move onto their North Kerry League.
U17 Ladies County Championship Division A Semi Final
On Thursday Evening we are away to Cromane at 7pm. This will be a very tough encounter for our Ladies, many of whom will play on Monday night for our Senior Ladies Team. We could do with as much support as possible.
U13 Ladies County Championship

Linda Daly will be bringing her young charges to play MKL Gaels in their Final on Sunday September 4th. Venue and time yet to be decided. It would be great again to have as much support as possible there to give encouragement to these brave young ladies.

U5 Academy notes:
A big treat for our U5’s this week when our older players got a chance to play a match integrated with the U7’s during training as we begin their preparation for moving up teams’ next season. The rest of our squad had a great time playing roller ball, beat the coach and sprinting around our obstacle course. Best of luck to all our players starting or returning to school and preschool tomorrow and we’ll see you next week for more fun and games.
Under 9s
Our u 9s travelled to Churchill on Friday evening to play in the Go Games Blitz organised by the locals.
We were thrilled to have two teams competing, 11 a side and games were 15 minutes long.
Both teams played 3 games against Churchill A Castleisland and Churchill B.
There were some outstanding performances and it was wonderful to see all the players having fun while participating in the Games.
Special thanks must go to Maeve o Connell, Ruby & Jake Sugrue for helping out on Friday evening.

Castleisland District U 15s qualified for the County Final on Wednesday evening last in Cordal on a score line of 3-15 to 2-10. Dominant throughout the game they ran out convincing winners to face Tralee District in the Final in Austin Stacks Park on Wednesday evening next at 8pm. Starting on the team we have Cian Harris in goals and Eoin Moriarty(vice-captain) and Eoghan Joy in the backs. In the forwards we have Mairtin Mc Kivergan and Jack Joy. Ciaran O Connell, Micheal O Connor, Conal Savage, Gearoid Healy, Padraig Reidy, Micheal Quirke and Luke Silles are on the subs bench.
Best of luck to all on Wednesday evening, including Tony Silles and Kieran Savage on the management team.

Visitors enjoyed complimentary refreshments, gift bags, henna painting, face painting, having their name written in Arabic calligraphy along with information on Islamic faith and culture.
There was a steady stream of visitors to the exhibition in order to learn about the faith and rituals of their friends, neighbours, colleagues and fellow students living in the county, including Deputy Michael Healy Rae and Tralee MD Cllr Sam Locke.

Deputy Healy Rae said he was delighted to attend and praised the contribution made by the Muslim community to society in Tralee and Kerry.

THEY were doling out free ice-creams on Ashe Street on Saturday afternoon for the official launch of the Cara Credit Union’s Quick Lodge and Withdrawal Lobby.
The ice-cream was just a small part of the entertainment as customers brought the kids for balloon making, face painting and a chance to win some cash when they made a transaction on the new kiosk.
The new ‘Quick Lodge & Withdrawal Lobby’ will be open each Saturday from 10am to 4pm in the Tralee Branch of Cara Credit Union. Scroll down for photos…
