However, any player seeking to benefit from the Injury Benefit Fund must be a registered member of the GAA or LGFA on Foireann at the time of injury.
The respective Injury Benefit Funds are self-funded entirely from the GAA and LGFA funds with no outside involvement. The Injury Funds are not an insurance scheme. The Injury Funds are set up to assist members with some reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to an injury sustained playing Gaelic football.
The respective Injury Benefit Funds do not seek to compensate fully for injuries sustained but to supplement other Schemes such as Personal Accident or Health Insurance.
The GAA and LGFA Schemes only provide cover for unrecoverable losses up to the limits specified under the respective Schemes. More details can be viewed on https://learning.gaa.ie/InjuryFund orhttps://ladiesgaelic.ie/resources/injury-fund/

U13 Medal Presentation
Last Saturday evening, our U13’s from last year were presented with their medals from the county league which they won last summer.
We were delighted to have the “Mounthawk Trio” of coach Luke Mulligan and players Ben Sharp and Thomas Sheehy present to give out the medals and they brought along the O’Sullivan and Corn Ui Mhuirí cups with them. All three spoke to the players about the role St Pats played in all their careers to date, the importance of playing football in secondary school and to enjoy their football going forward.
Thanks to Alan from Benners for delivering our pizzas much to the satisfaction of everyone present. A huge thanks to Mr O’Connell for allowing us to use the school hall for the presentation.
And a special thanks to last year’s coaches Sean, John, and Joe along with juvenile chairperson Mike Moriarty for organising the event and to Emma Colivet, Bridget O’Riordan and Fiona and Grace Costello for helping out with the refreshments after. We wish the boys the best of luck for the season ahead and of course to the Mounthawk Trio in the Hogan Cup final in two weeks.

Sympathy
The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of Joseph Joe Enright Middle Village, New York formerly of Derrymore East, Maura O’Connor Lohercannon, John O’Mahoney Annascaul, Michale Moriarty Oakpark and Eamon Hickey Knockmoyle.
Playing with the aid of a strong breeze, KOR started well with some accurate point kicking from open play. With the KOR defence working well as a unit and battling the elements, Ardfert struggled to break through for scoring opportunities.
Padraig Griffin raised our green flag in this period.
Half time 1-7 to 0-2
Aided by the wind, Ardfert were in the ascendency in the second half and narrowed the gap. However KOR were transitioning the ball well from defense to attack and goals from Tom Hoare and Gearoid Meehan put the result beyond doubt.
Tom Hoare was excellent with good work by Conor O’Sullivan and Daniel Bowler, especially tracking back. Donagh was solid as usual, and great to see Ross and Darragh McElligott back who both played a half each.

Juveniles:
Minors:
Round 3 of the county league sent us to Mountcoal on Saturday evening.
We started well with 2 frees from Nick Lacey, which were cancelled out by scores from Ryan Hurley, and a Senans free brought them level.
A sweeping move started by Nick, who fed Ryan Onyek bursting through the middle, opened up the Senans backline with Ryan finding Darragh Murphy at the back post for our opening goal.
Senans responded well with a goal of their own by Ryan Hurley again, who was having a great battle with Breandàn Meehan.
It was Breandàn who burst forward from Centre Back and found Darragh Murphy in space with a pinpoint pass, and Darragh made no mistake taking his 2nd goal. Michael Enright added a great score from midfield before Senans reduced the deficit with their second goal and a free. Level entering the last few minutes, Nick won a ball from the half turn and kicked it over the top to Cayden Roche, who drilled his shot to the roof of the net.
Oisìn Cronin was getting on top at midfield and scored the last point of the half to leave us 4 points ahead at 3-4 to 2-3.
The second half started similarly to the first, we opened with a goal as Nick again being the provider with a long ball over the defence to Breandàn who won the ball and beat the keeper before finishing to an empty net, taking a belt to the face in the process.
Senans responded with their own goal on the break and added 3 quick points; Ryan Hurley added a free and point from play from young Mikey Summers.
Michael Enright won 2 massive balls around the middle for us, resulting in 1-1, Nick racing clear to finish to the roof of the net, and Darragh scoring from a tight angle. Nick judged the wind to perfection, scoring off his left, and Aaron Horgan, busy as ever, got in at the back post to raise the white flag once more.
Senans added 2 more points to keep them in touch, and then a long-range ball ended up in our net, leaving the score 5-9 to 4-8 in favour of us. However Nick created another goal this time for Aaron Horgan, coming off the wing to side foot at the near post and Nick would have the final say with a great score from the outside of the boot close to 30 yards out.
A morale boosting win for our boys closing out the day 6-10 to 4-08.
Ruarì Kennedy was pinpoint with his kickouts giving us a great platform to attack with Sean Mahony and the excellent Breandàn Meehan attacking at pace with every opportunity.
Oisìn and Michael battled in midfield all day with Michael showing great leadership down the stretch. Provider last week, Darragh Murphy delivered this week with a massive tally of 2-3.
Man of the match was Nick Lacey, creating 4 goals today and adding 1-5 for himself. Next up is NA Fianna next Saturday.
Academy continued on Sunday morning for our last morning in MTU Sports Centre. Next week we will commence a three week block in Tralee Sports Complex.
Last Sunday morning we welcomed 6 new members who we were delighted to see fitting right in during the session and along with meeting new friends.
Our coaches ensured they were made feel very welcome and encouraged everyone to make them feel welcome. Our coaches went through various skills and drills involving hand passing, kicking and soloing throughout every age group.
And each group finished the training session with a game and Kay was on hand with treats for everyone as they headed home after another great training session.

Nótaí na mBan:
Pre season came to an end last week for our u16’s girls team. We are in division 2 this year for the North Kerry league which is starting in the next few weeks.
So Tuesday on the Astro, we focused on football and getting ball handling back on track along with our usual core exercises and a bit of strength and conditioning
Friday was back in the gym for strength and conditioning core and general maintenance.
Sunday we returned to a muddy soft Healy Park getting the girls used to the conditions ahead where we did a high tempo warm up and straight into ball work.
All round another good week’s work done, plenty of ball, plenty exercises, plenty crack and numbers keep coming back.
Condolences:
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to Anne Moran and family on the death of her brother Fergus Moyles – ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Dr Crokes GAA v Ballymacelligott GAA – Minor – Div 1 A – Third Round
Dr Crokes GAA 1-12 (15)
Ballymac GAA 1-10 (13)
Our Minor team played Dr Crokes on a temperate, relatively calm afternoon in Lewis Road on Saturday, 2nd of March in the third round of the county league Division 1B.
In the first half, it was the home side who took the early initiative with a goal giving the Crokes side the early advantage.
Crokes led by 5 points at one stage in the opening period but, Ballymac did not give up under some intense pressure and a dipping ball into the square by Eoghan Joy managed to get the better of the Crokes keeper which brought our lads right back into the game. Half time score Dr Crokes 1-06 Ballymac 1-06.
The second period continued to be a nip and tuck affair with both sides in equal amounts of the ball. However, it was the home side who proved to be the ultimately more clinical with Ballymac scoring 4 points and the Killarney men scoring 6 in the second half.
It was the Crokes who ultimately prevailed in the finish however our lads left everything on the field in a trojan effort.
A Notable mention goes to Jack Joy who had 8 points in the finish. Our fourth-round game is to be confirmed. Please keep an eye on the club social media channels for further information.
Jack Joy (0-8) Eoin Joy (1-0) Martin McKivergan (0-1) Ciarán O’Connell (0-1)

Rebecca Dobbin Donaghy reports on the Kerry ladies game in Armagh on Sunday afternoon…
Armagh 3-14
Kerry 1-13
Armagh maintained their perfect start to this season’s Lidl NFL when they inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on reigning champions Kerry at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds.
Armagh led by double scores at the break with a Caroline O’Hanlon goal putting them into a commanding 1-7 to 0-5 lead.
Kerry rallied in the second half as they tried to preserve their unbeaten record and managed to edge in front, but Armagh came with another rally and two goals from Aimee Macken sealed a deserved win.
Armagh won all eight games when winning promotion from Division 2 last season and they have adapted seamlessly to life in the top flight, with their fifth win in a row.
Continued below…
O’Hanlon’s goal from close range put Armagh in the driving seat, although two points from Emma Dineen before the break helped keep Kerry in touch.
The reigning league champions started the second half strongly and Niamh Carmody and Anna Galvin landed good points.
And they got back on level terms eleven minutes after the restart when Katie Brosnan found the net for Kerry to tie the game at 1-8 apiece.
Hannah O’Donoghue edged Kerry in front with a point before Corinna Doyle equalised and then Armagh’s Niamh Henderson and Brosnan exchanged scores to leave them tied at 1-10 each going into the final quarter.
The game was there for the taking for both sides but it was Aimee Macken who took over from there. She pushed Armagh back in front with two points and then slotted home a penalty to put five between them going into the closing stages.
Armagh didn’t relent and kept pushing forward at every opportunity to claim another superb win.
Kerry were unable to mount another comeback and the issue was sealed when Macken got through to shoot her second goal and Armagh’s third to maintain their brilliant start to the campaign.

Dr. Casey has extensive knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating haemochromatosis patients and his presentation will include practical information on what are the symptoms of haemochromatosis, how to get tested and diagnosed and what is the treatment.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free in-person event and there will be a Question & Answer session, where people will get opportunities to ask lots of questions on the night. For more information, email miriam@haemochromatosis.ie
Haemochromatosis is more common in Ireland than anywhere else in the world, as one in five people carry one copy of the gene and one in every 83 Irish people carry two copies of the gene, predisposing them to develop iron overload.
Haemochromatosis, also known as ‘iron overload’, is Ireland’s most common genetic disorder.
Early diagnosis is vital and if left untreated, can lead to organ damage or even premature death. The Irish Haemochromatosis Association estimates there are at least 20,000 undiagnosed cases of Haemochromatosis in Ireland.
Some of the symptoms of haemochromatosis can range from chronic tiredness and joint pain, to abdominal pain and sexual dysfunction.

Alan Cantwell reports on the InsureMyVan.ie Men’s Super League 2023/2024 – Round 17 game in Tralee on Sunday…
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors 81
Maree 89
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors hopes of securing home court advantage for the upcoming playoffs were dealt a serious blow when going down by 89-81 to Maree in their last home game of the regulation season at the Tralee Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The win sees Maree remain in pole position in the Southern Conference with Ballincollig’s win at home to Belfast Star on Saturday helping the Cork side’s quest to seal a second place spot on the ladder.
The Warriors now face the prospect of a third place finish which will see them taking a difficult road trip to face the second placed team in the Northern Conference when the standings are finalised in two weeks time.
Continued below…
Maree started brightly with Terence Lewis landing a double inside the opening 90 seconds but new signing Elijah Weaver heralded his arrival to Tralee with a well taken major score with his first touch and when Caleb Jordan followed up with an basket from inside the Warriors led 6-4.
Tom Dumont knocked down his first of four threes of the day but Daniel Jokubaitis countered immediately to level the game at 11-11 midway through the quarter.
Ty Gadsden soloed his way to Maree’s next 10 points to edge the visitors ahead with an impressive volley but Weaver, Jordan and Cian Sullivan combined to cut the gap to a single point 20-21 at quarter time.
The game ebbed and flowed through the second quarter with the sides level on no fewer than six occasions.
A double from distance from Jokubaitis and another major from Weaver either side of an Eddie Sheehy drive saw the Warriors briefly lead but four in a row from Lewis restored parity at 31-31 half way through the quarter.
Continued below…
Maree continued to test the Warriors defensive resolve from all angles and baskets from Dumont, Lewis and Zvomimir Cutuk eased the Galway side 39-35 ahead.
However the Warriors responded well with Sullivan bossing the exchanges under the Maree board landing a double and efforts from inside and outside from Rap Buivydas and Jokubaitis locked up the scores again at 43-43 at half time.
Gadsden and Dumont were on the mark for Maree again early in the third but a signature Jokubaitis three and a double from Eoin Quigley saw the Warriors take the lead again.
The hosts’ aggressive defence proved costly as Maree took full advantage of a number of fouls through Gadsden, Kyle Carey and John Burke to take a decisive 64-57 lead.
Baskets from Quigley and another double from Sullivan kept the Warriors well in touch but a huge three from Eoghan Rockall ensured that the visitors took a 68-63 lead into the final quarter.
Dumont was in range from beyond the arc again early in the fourth but scores from Weaver and back to back efforts from Jordan pared the Maree lead back to single score.
The Galway side looked the more likely to prevail when Dumont, Cutuk and Rockall combined to open up an eight point lead as the clock ticked down but Weaver from distance and another mid range effort from Jordan saw the gap cut to just a single score again.
The game was effectively settled with two major scores, the first from Kyle Carey and the second from Tom Dumont leaving the Warriors to scramble for a dramatic late comeback.
However, the home side’s failure to convert six from eight free throws allied to Daniel Jokubaitis and Kieran Donaghy fouling out late on sealed their fate on a final scoreline of 89-81.
Scorers:
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors: Daniel Jokubaitis 19, Elijah Weaver 18, Cian Sullivan 15
Maree: Ty Gadsden 22, Tom Dumont 22, Terence Lewis 20
• Next up for the Warriors is a tough road trip to face Killester at the IWA in Clontarf next weekend. Anything but a win for John Dowling’s side will cement their third place on the Conference table ahead of the last game of the regulation season when they travel to Moycullen on St. Patrick’s weekend.
The Warriors’ slim hopes of a home quarter final rest on winning both their remaining games and Ballincollig losing away to both University of Ulster and a Cork derby with Neptune in their last two games.
This combination of results would see the sides finish level on 36 points each but the Warriors would secure second spot by virtue of a four point advantage in the home and away record between the sides from their 86-73 win at home against their 80-71 loss away.
In a game decided by the smallest of margins, there could be a twist in the tale yet.
