AND so it’s all over for another year.

The Rose of Tralee Festival and Féile Thrá Lí can be considered another roaring success with thousands turning out last night to welcome the new Rose of Tralee Keely O’Grady from New Zealand to the Denny Street stage.

It capped off a hectic five days in the county capital and photographer Domnick Walsh was there to capture all the atmosphere and excitement.

Domnick is celebrating over 20 years as the official press photographer for the Rose of Tralee Festival and he took some striking images this year as you can see below…

Claire Dubendorfer, the 1972 Rose of Tralee winner and a Swiss national. After being crowned, Claire was last seen departing from Tralee on the back of her then-boyfriend’s motorbike, vanishing from the public eye. For decades, she remained a mystery, never again contacting the festival’s management or participating in its events. It wasn’t until 2020 that any trace of Claire emerged, as her absence had become an enduring enigma in the history of the Rose of Tralee. Her sudden disappearance and long silence sparked curiosity and intrigue for years. This year’s festival is the first time Claire, now Claire Schmid Furrer, has returned to Tralee since she won. Kerry Rose, Eimer Dineen, received a helping hand from her sister Tara in putting together her stunning outfit for just €5, which included both her dress and headpiece. While shopping in Dublin, Tara was on the lookout for the perfect garments to help her sister shine at the upcoming Rose of Tralee International Festival, taking place in Tralee this week. Thanks to Tara’s keen eye and thoughtful shopping, Eimer is all set to represent her county in style at the much-anticipated event.
