The county champions got the defence of their title off to the perfect start with a ten point victory over a depleted Causeway. The final score was Abbeydorney 1-24 Causeway 1-14.

Abbeydorney led at half time 1-11 to 0-07 their goal coming from the very impressive Jack Sheehan.

Michael O’Leary was quite by his standards but Michael Slattery stepped into the breech with some fantastic scores. A returning Oisin Maunsell will also add to their arsenal.

Causeway will improve on the back of this game provided they are able to keep enough healthy bodies on the pitch.

So the Garvey’s SuperValu championship is up and running.
