CLUB AGM: Last Sunday’s AGM elected Shane Lynch as Club Chairman for the coming season. Shane takes over from Billy Ryle who held the position for the past two seasons.

Mairead Fernane held the position during 2019 and before that it was Shane’s brother, Liam, who held the position for the three seasons 2016-2018.

And the Lynch connection goes away back to the 1980s when Shane’s late father, John, was Vice-Chairman of the Club for six successive seasons (1984-1989).

In a very comprehensive address Shane thanked everyone in the Club for such a successful season in 2021 and outlined in general terms his priorities for the coming season.

After a very successful eight seasons as Club Secretary Elma Nix stud down from that position but will continue to work as a member of the PR committee as well as being PRO for the Ladies Club. Warm tributes were paid to Elma for her tenure as Secretary.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: Our Seniors are now taking a well-deserved rest after a very successful 2021. The Co. Board’s Master Fixtures List for 2022 reveals that the Co. League is set to get underway on the 6th March , continuing for a full four months, concluding with round 11 on 26th June or the following week, 3rd July.

At County level the Munster SF Final is fixed for 28th May with the All Ireland Final down for decision on the 24th July.

CONGRATULATIONS: to Kieran Donaghy and many other Rockies who were part of Garveys Tralee Warriors National Cup Basketball Championship victory over Neptunes  (88-75) in Tallagh on last Saturday night.

It was also great to hear the late Timmy Sheehan mentioned during the course of the game. Timmy, along with Star, was one of the founding members of the Warriors some years ago.

Congratulations also to Greg Horan and Dylan Casey who were part of the Kerry SF victory over Cork in the McGrath Cup Final, also on last Saturday.

CLUB SOCIAL: Our Club Social will take place in Ballygarry House Hotel on next Saturday fortnight (12th Feb). Among other things it will a night of celebration for our victorious Senior and B Footballers to mark their exploits during 2021.

FITNESS CLASSES: The Individual Pod Fitness Training sessions continues in the Clubhouse every Tuesday and Thursday evenings  from 7pm to 8pm. All are welcome. Contact Diane at 087 7940531 for further information.

CLUB CARDS: With new Covid regulations coming into place on last Saturday, ten days sooner than originally planned, our Card sessions are now up and running again on the usual Monday and Thursday nights with the starting time at 9pm sharp.

CLUB LOTTO: Monday Night’s (24th Jan) Jackpot, worth €3,750 was not won. The numbers drawn were 3, 13, 23, 30. The €20 winners were Brendan O’Neill, c/o Carmel O’Neill; Noel Foley, c/o Hussey’s; and Damien McLoughlin, Peggy King and John Joe O’Sullivan, all c/o The Club.

Next Monday’s Jackpot will be worth €3,800.
