CAID FAOI 11/12: Last week, we travelled to the Laune Rangers Club for our latest U12 games. Overall, we were very proud of the boys for their effort, attitude and sportsmanship throughout the evening. The Younger Boys: this group produced one of their best performances of the season.

The improvement in the boys over the past few months has been huge and was plain for all to see. They played a great brand of football, showing excellent teamwork, support play and willingness to move the ball. Their kick passing, hand passing and decision-making were particularly impressive; and they consistently looked to find the player in the best position rather than forcing the play.

It was a real team performance and they deservedly came out on top against the Laune Rangers younger side. The Older Boys: our older group came up against a very tall and physical Laune Rangers team. Having beaten them earlier in the season, we knew that this would be a tough encounter.

Our opposition made a strong start and struck for three early goals, as well as a few points, leaving us with a mountain to climb. To our boys’ credit, they never gave in and showed great determination and character throughout.

They responded well and actually won the second half but, foraor géar agus ochón ó, the early damage proved difficult to recover from and Laune Rangers finished as deserving winners on the night. ‘Well done’ to all the boys who represented the Austin Stacks Club so positively.

The progress being made across both groups is very encouraging and we look forward to building on it again in the weeks ahead. Ar aghaidh linn, a bhuachaillí cróga na Carraige! (Cóilín Ó Tíocháin)
