U8 Girls
A brilliant evening of football on Monday as our U8 girls welcomed our neighbours, Currow, for two excellent 7-a-side Go Games.
The girls showcased their developing skills right across the field, with some great teamwork, tackling and passing on display. A special mention to our youngest players, who have really gripped the game, the rules and the importance of teamwork this season.
It’s not easy to finish a full day at school and then bring that much energy to a game, but they continue to do it with huge enthusiasm (and gymnastics)!
A big thank you to Currow for joining us for such a fun evening.
Next up: Go Games Blitz away in Kilcummin this Friday, followed by a very special appearance for some of our players this Sunday at our Ladies’ Home Championship game against Spa.
U13 Boys
Our u13s began their Kelliher’s Garage central region campaign on Sunday evening against St. Pats, Blennerville in Ballymac .
In an entertaining game, where both sides went at it from the start , some of the scores were very well created .
Ballymac started Brightly, some excellent points came from Conor Mangan, Jacob Shortt, Daragh Curran , and Sean Culloty .
Midfield was a ding dong battle with Conor Mangan and Euan Hannah putting in a great effort from start to finish.
Our defence was excellent throughout, Ryan Kelliher , Sean Ireland Jayden Roche, Cuan Maguire and Shane O Connell standing up to the challenge when St Pat’s were attacking.
The game was level at halftime 2 05 to Ballymac’s 11 points .
The contest was much the same in the second half with both sides playing some great football with further excellent scores. A goal from Kyle O Sullivan, three points from Dara Fealy and a beautiful strike from Jack O Connell put Ballymac in the lead in the final quarter .
However two quick goals from St. Pat’s had the game level in the final minutes of the game.
A pointed free from Conor Mangan looked like winning the game for the home side but St Pat’s had one last attempt and drew level with the final score of the game.
The game finished Ballymac 3 18 St Pats Blennerville 5 12 .
Well done to all players on a terrific performance from start to finish. Some of the point taking against the wind was outstanding.
The link up play for some of the scores was a joy to watch. Thanks to St Pats for a fine sporting game.
U8 Boys GoGame
Ballymac v Churchill
Our U8 Boys put on a fine display of football with 31 Ballymac players playing against Churchill on Tuesday evening.
Every player got to play in three games and the skill, determination and team work that each boy showed was absolutely fantastic.
This group are improving week on week and their hard work at training and practice at home is really paying off.
A great evening for the group with everyone enjoying the football (and the Jelly’s afterwards).

Under 10s – Go Games
Ballymac v Fossa
A great evening of football in Ballymac as our Under 10s welcomed a strong Fossa side for a series of very competitive games.
We had three teams of eight taking part, with each team playing three games. There was plenty of skill, effort and determination on show throughout, with Ballymac giving it their all.
There are still lots of things for our young players to learn and develop, but the Ballymac teams can be very proud of their efforts and the way they competed from start to finish.
A big well done to all the players, and thanks to Fossa for making the trip and providing such competitive games.
U14 girls
Our U14 girls played Abbeydorney on Thursday last in a North Kerry League Div 4 game . Despite being played in a constant down pour the girls applied themselves to the task quite well .
Captained by Charlotte Collins who helped herself to two first half goals either side of a Leah Murphy goal along with a great defensive display by our halfback line of Allison Butler , Aoife Ireland and Saoirse Brosnan we reached halftime on 3-3 to 0-4 ahead .
Couple of great scores by Aisling O Keeffe, Aobha Bolger and Sadie Lynch pushed us further ahead . Abbeydorney to their credit got three goals in a ten minute spell but with Jasmine Roche coming in she contributed 1-2 , Katie Anna added a brilliant score following a strong solo run . Millie Sheehan deserves a mention for her accurate kick outs . All in all a great win and more importantly a good team performance .
U16 Girls
On Wednesday night 2nd September, Ballymac U16 girls faced Beaufort in the county league final in Caherslee.
Losing full-back Grace Kelly to injury before the start of the match was a big blow to our chances of victory. Ballymac lost the toss and ended up playing against a strong breeze.
Despite this, we started well and a point by Maeve O’Connell had us ahead early on. We then had a goal chance by Amy Roche which was brilliantly saved by the Beaufort goalie.
Beaufort came right back at us and the game swung one way and then the other. Ballymac had the bulk of possession with Emma Lynch, Eva Burke, Aisling O’Keeffe and Kit O’Connor to the fore.
Unfortunately, we missed a number of goal chances with two hitting the post. Points by Alice Savage, Eva Burke and a goal by Holly O’Neill had us trailing by two points with two minutes left in the half.
Then disaster struck, a point by Beaufort followed by a goal right on the half time whistle had us down by 2-6 to 1-3.
At half time, although six points down, we felt we were still in the game despite the wind dropping significantly.
Again, we started the 2nd half very strongly missing two glorious goal chances early on. Then Beaufort struck for a counter attack goal followed almost immediately by another.
At this stage we lost Eva Burke to a hand injury and Amy Roche who had been playing with a back injury had to leave the field. It was at this stage the Ballymac girls heads dropped and Beaufort took control of the contest.
Although we added points by Alice Savage and a goal by Aedín Healy we were well beaten by a rampant Beaufort side.
The girls will be disappointed by this showing because as a team they were well short of their best. Throughout the year they have shown resilience and character and they will bounce back.
Congratulations to the Beaufort girls and commiserations to the Ballymac girls who despite not being at their best continued to battle.
On a personal note, it has been a pleasure to be part of the management team this year and behalf of myself, Linda, Joanne and Liam I would like to commend all the girls for the way they behaved on and off the pitch.
I would also like to thank our captain, Aoibhin Sheehan, for the example and leadership she gave to the team. It would be remiss of me not to mention the 4 U14 players who stepped up and were valuable members of the squad.

U8 Girls LGFA
Just five days after our Senior Men’s championship exit to Kilcummin, our U8 girls travelled back down the road on Friday night for the next round of the Lee Strand Go Games and they were determined to put on a performance!
With 12 players taking on three very strong Kilcummin sides, the girls produced arguably their performance of the season.
In two games, our defence was put under constant pressure, but the girls showed incredible perseverance and teamwork. They worked tirelessly to win possession, moved the ball quickly up the field and, time and again, created opportunities for their forwards to finish what their teammates had started.
The final game was a different story — this time the girls were more dominant, with our midfielders and forwards taking control and putting their developing skills, movement and teamwork on full display.
A fantastic performance from a brilliant group of girls – plenty of evidence of just how far they have come this season. A big thanks to Kilcummin for hosting us tonight.
Next up… a very special half-time showcase at our Senior Ladies’ Championship game at home against Spa this Sunday.

Ladies Team
Round 3 of the Bons Secours Junior Premier junior championship saw Ballymac take on Spa at 12 noon in Ballymac. There’s never been much between the twp teams over last few years in championship and today was no different.
After a tight battle Ballymac ladies edged the game by 2 points on a 2-11 to 3-6 scoreline.
1st half with Cora Savage kicking great points we led after the first 20 mins by 0-05 to 0-03 and pretty much controlling the game but Spa thundered into the game with current county minor Ciara o Sullivan driving them forward saw them lead 1-5 to 0-7 at the short whistle.
A couple of positional switches and substitutes for the 2nd half seemed to work well and we levelled the game via a Cora Savage free, Goals from Eve Creedon and Roisin Rahilly saw us lead by 6 , 2-8 to 1-5 , however we kicked four wides on the trot and on 45th minute Spa scored a goal from a 21m free.
Four minutes later Spa scored another goal and were level . In the 55th min Spa converted a great free to lead by one. Our girls however rolled the sleeves up and worked the ball up the pitch for Jamie Lee to equalise. Two frees from Cora completed the scoring .
U13 Boys
Our u 13 s played Keel in Ballymac on Sunday evening in Round 2 of the Kellihers Toyota central region league.
Our boys started well and had 2 points on the scoreboard after 2 minutes of play. Keel responded with 2 goals and a couple of points to take control of the game.
However our boys hit back immediately with a golden spell before halftime to score 2 goals from Kyle o Sullivan, a goal from Jack o Connell and further points from Jacob Shortt , Gearoid Jones , Conor Mangan , Dara Fealy and Daragh Curran to lead by the minimum at halftime 3 09 – 3 08 .
Following several changes at halftime , our defence were much tighter and our fowards were able to create more space and attack and score at will in the second half .
Further points from Conor Mangan , Jack o Connell and Scott Fitzmaurice put us in the driving seat with ten minutes left .
A consolation goal against the run of play by Keel didn’t deter our boys, from pushing on .
Another goal from Kyle o Sullivan sealed the game for us as we ran out winners on a final scoreline of
Ballymac 5 17 Keel 4 12 .

Lotto
Again! This week, three players matched three numbers!!
A big thank you to everyone who supported the Ballymacelligott GAA Lotto this week. Your continued support makes a huge difference to our club and helps us to keep our teams and facilities going from strength to strength.
This week’s lotto draw was conducted online on Friday, 4th September 2026.
The numbers drawn were: 8,16,24 & 26.
Unfortunately, there was no winner of the €15,000 jackpot this week.
Our €15,000 jackpot was just a whisker away from being won! Three players matched three numbers, missing the grand prize by just one single digit.
Congratulations to our lucky winners who each had three numbers that one number short of winning €15,000: Emer O’Mahony, Eileen Scanlon and Maureen & Maurice Fitzgerald.
