Played in beautiful condition on Monday evening in Castleisland Desmond both sets of players deserve a lot of credit for producing a high quality game that provided plenty of entertainment for the supporters .
Ballymac despite missing Rachel Creedon (illness) and Tina Donnely (inj) started well and dominated possession for the first 10mins points from Lisa Curran and Cora Savage saw Ballymac lead , two goal chances went a begging before Corca Duibhne opened their account .
Couple of more good attacks by Ballymac yielded 1-1 , with the goal coming from a penalty from Sarah Scanlon after Emily O Brien was pulled down going through to goal , another Lisa Curran score saw our lead stretch to 1-5 to 0-2 .
However Corca Dhuibhne responded with a goal of their own just before the water break . On resumption after the water break Corca Dhuibne added 2 converted frees from Louise Ni M to bring the game back to a 1 pt game .
Ballymac’s response was a cracking team goal originating from a ball won by corner back Caoimhe Carroll , few passes later Cora Savage was in possession and from the 20m she smashed the ball to the net . Cora adding again a point from play to make it 2-6 to 1-4 , a point a piece for each side saw us to halftime 2-7 to 1-5 .
2nd Half saw Corca Dhuibhne make some positional changes which ultimately proved to be critical to the outcome of the game .
Hannah Nic Gearailt switched to midfield and Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh to full forward , and former Cork star Geraldine Flynn took over their kick outs as well as picking up Cora Savage .
Despite this Ballymac made a bright start to the 2nd half with points from Cora Savage and Sarah Scanlon stretching the lead to 2-9 to 1-5 , however strong play by Corca Dhuibhne midfielders and a very aggressive kick out press resulted in they reeling off 5 points in a row to leave it 2-10 to 1-10 at the water break .
On resumption Kate Collins pointed following good work by Rachel Griffen , but then the game turned on a missed goal opportunity by Ballymac , Corca Dhuibhne worked the ball forward & a strong run by Hannah Ni Gearailt saw her find the net .
A free by Louise following an interception on Ballymacs kickout , saw CD lead by 1 for the first time in the game . Again CD won the next kick out and Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh made the opening for their no 13 to slot home for their 3rd goal . 3-11 to 2-10.
A Cora Savage point from a free brought to back to 3 points again with 6mins left on the clock .
Corca Dhuibhne added a point from play to keep the 4 pt lead and 2 free’s again from Louise had them 3-14 to 2-11 , 3 mins left ……… A free from Cora Savage falls short but Sarah Scanlon rose to punch it to the net , 3-14 to 3-11 .
Ballymac won the kick out and Cora from play left 2pts in it , but try as the Ballymac girls did they couldn’t get their hands on the ball again to launch another attack as Corca Dhuibhne’s experienced players kept possession and managed possession to the final whistle .
Congratulations to Corca Dhuibhne , our girls gave it everything & we had chances to win this unfortunately its another learning experience .
However considering who we were missing on the night it was a hugely positive performance , with Cora Savage and Eve Creedon particularly impressive , Caoimhe Carroll and Sarah Scanlon also played very well .
Niamh Rahilly & Emily O Brien played full games following prolonged absences from injury and illness . There are learnings for the team but still if we get our missing players back we will look forward to the championship in August .

U12 Girls Go Games
A huge thanks to tonight’s team and supporters that travelled to moyvane for our Lee strand u12 round 8 go games where we were up against a very talented moyvane side .
18 girls travelled and played four quarters , 12 mins each with 17 girls togged and fantastic to see Ròisìn having such a speedy recovery , only a matter of time before she will be back playing again please God.
We played 14 a side contest on a warm and dry night , perfect conditions for football and both teams gave it everything and it was a fantastic end to end display from all involved .

County League Round 4 – U16 Division 3B

Ballymac produced a superb second-half display to secure an emphatic 5-16 to 4-07 victory over Dr. Crokes in Round 4 of the County League U16 Division 3B on Thursday evening.
Despite eventually running out convincing winners, Ballymac had to overcome a difficult opening period.
Dr. Crokes made an explosive start, hitting two early goals inside the opening 11 minutes to establish an early advantage.
However, Ballymac stayed composed, with points from Eric Quirke, Patrick Leen, Flynn Boyle, Gearóid Joy, Jack Hobbert and David Fealy keeping them firmly in contention.
The turning point came in the closing stages of the first half. After Gearóid Joy was denied by an excellent save, David Fealy found the net on 27 minutes before Flynn Boyle struck for Ballymac’s second goal just two minutes later.
Patrick Leen and Rory O’Connor added further points before the interval, although a late Dr. Crokes goal ensured the sides remained closely matched at the break.
Ballymac took complete control after the restart. Jack Hobbert blasted home the team’s third goal just four minutes into the second half, giving the away side the momentum they would never relinquish. Eric Quirke chipped in with two excellent points, while Flynn Boyle converted a free as Ballymac steadily stretched their lead.
Although Dr. Crokes continued to battle and added points from frees before grabbing a late goal, Ballymac responded in style. Patrick Leen added another fine point before substitute Paul Murphy made an immediate impact, scoring within moments of his introduction.
Flynn Boyle then put the result beyond doubt with his second goal of the evening before Murphy rounded off an outstanding finish by firing home Ballymac’s fifth goal. Boyle completed the scoring with a late free to cap an excellent personal performance.
Flynn Boyle was Ballymac’s standout performer, finishing with an outstanding 2-03, while Patrick Leen contributed 0-04 and Jack Hobbert impressed with 1-01. David Fealy (1-01), Paul Murphy (1-01), Eric Quirke (0-03), Gearóid Joy (0-02) and Rory O’Connor (0-01) also made valuable scoring contributions in a strong all-round team display.
After weathering Dr. Crokes’ early surge, Ballymac’s clinical finishing and dominant second-half performance proved decisive as they claimed a well-deserved victory and valuable league points.
Up next is Round 5 of the county league and a home fixture against Listry next Thursday evening the 16th of July where a similar performance would put Ballymac in a decent position and a chance of a Division 3 County League Semi-Final.
