Health and Wellbeing

On Thursday 9th December Ballymac Gaa was officially recognised as a healthy club, this initiative was started back in 2019 under the guidance of our Health and Wellbeing officer Oonagh O’Rahilly, Oonagh and her hard working committee worked extremely hard to work towards making our club inclusive and welcoming to all.

They had many initiatives like a mental health talk with Jigsaw, the introduction of Buddy, to keep our younger members active during lockdown, on line fitness classes and social rounders once they could get back out on the field.  Our “Little Stars” programme, was a very welcome addition to the club.

This is a group for children with special needs and great fun and laughter was had. This year also saw our club grounds become a smoke free zone. This committee are also planning a community walkway in the training field thanks to funding from Leader.

The award was presented by Jimmy Mulligan and Aine O’Sullivan of Kerry Health and Wellbeing Committee at the launch which took place in Ballygarry Estate Hotel.
