U12 Girls
Ballymac’s colours were in full flight last Saturday evening in Thurles as our older u12 girls, born 2014, got a chance to play in the half time game ,during the LGFA All Ireland semi final of Kerry v Dublin, against Naomh Mearnóg of Dublin .
Even though only 12 girls could take the field, the entire squad were there to shout them on.
A fantastic opportunity for all the girls that played and a huge thank you to the LGFA for selecting our club as only Ballymac and Firies were selected from Kerry to play .
Fantastic experience and a big thanks as always to all the parents who travelled and supported .
Hopefully some day we might we watching them on the biggest stage on all Ireland final day
U16 Ladies
Ballymac U16 Ladies played their first round of the county league on Tuesday against Beale in Ballybunion. Ballymac, having won the toss, decided to play with the help of a strong breeze. The girls got stuck in straight away and quickly established a lead with points from Maeve O’Connell and Alice Savage.
A goal by Andrea Greer followed by a point by the same player put Ballymac in control. Further points by Alice and Maeve put Ballymac 1-11 to 0-1 up with 10 minutes of the half remaining.
Beale rallied scoring four unanswered points and would have scored more but for some great saves by goal-keeper Emma Lynch. Ballymac had the last say of the first half with a point from Alice Savage which put Ballymac 1-12 to 0-5 up at half-time.
Playing the second half against the wind, Ballymac took control of the contest with points scored by Eva Burke, Alice Savage and Maeve O’Connell. Aideen Healy added a goal which finished the game as a contest.
Alice Savage added more points and a goal by Maeve O’Connel had Ballymac winning by 3-17 to 0-9. It was a great team performance with all 17 players who took part contributing to the victory.
Special mention must go to our goalie Emma Lynch and full-back Grace Kelly, Maeve O’Connell who scored 1-5 and Alice Savage who scored 10 points. Also, Katyanna O’Connor who covered every blade of grass of the pitch.
