Participants were challenged to transform unwanted clothing and household fabrics into original, wearable outfits, highlighting creativity alongside environmental awareness.
Brígh, a student at Presentation Castleisland, impressed judges with her project titled “Fite Fuaite”, inspired by the Irish phrase meaning “intertwined.”

Her design featured a carefully constructed patchwork outfit made from repurposed garments and scrap fabrics, symbolising the interconnected nature of the global fashion industry.
As part of the competition, Brígh conducted in-depth research into the social and environmental impacts of textile production, with a particular focus on what happens to clothing after it is donated. Her insightful and thoughtful approach to this topic played a key role in her success.
At just 14 years of age, Brígh’s accomplishment is a remarkable one, and a source of great pride for her school and the wider Castleisland community.
