School Spirit award winner Brogan Griffin with teachers Carol Anne O’Donoghue and Caroline Kennedy and Principal Kieran O’Toole in the sports hall.THERE was great excitement at Scoil Eoin Balloonagh this morning as the 2026 School Spirit Award Winner was announced in the Sports Hall.
The Scoil Eoin School Spirit Award was devised by principal Mr. O’Toole along with the Student Council in 2016. This award is not academic award, rather an award in recognition of a pupil who promotes inclusiveness and fairness, is a good role model and displays exemplary behaviour.
Each teacher nominates a pupil from their class and the identity of the nominees is anonymous in the interest of fairness.

All nominees were presented with a medal in recognition of their nomination by Mr. O’Toole. The 2026 winner was chosen by a unanimous vote.
Brógan Griffin from Mrs. Kennedy’s 3rd class was nominated because of her sense of fairness in how she interacts with her peers, always encouraging kindness, honesty and respect.

She was shocked when Mr. O’Toole called out her name and presented her with the trophy.
Brógan’s family were hidden away and came into the hall once the announcement was made. Her sister Charleigh who is in Senior Infants in Scoil Eoin was overjoyed.
Her name will now join Grace, Luke, Tomás, Leon, Philip, Ella and Rían, Alan and Conor on the School Spirit Plaque.
