OWEN Moore, Head of Astellas Tralee Plant, has been named BioPharma & LifeSciences Connected Person of the Month for September 2026.

The recognition acknowledges Owen’s leadership in the development of Astellas’ new biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Kerry Technology Park in Tralee and the contribution of the team he has built around the project.

The BioPharma & LifeSciences Connected Person of the Month programme recognises individuals whose leadership, innovation and contribution are helping to advance Ireland’s biopharma and life sciences community.

The award follows Astellas Ireland Co. Ltd’s announcement of a further expansion of the Tralee facility. The expansion will double drug product manufacturing capacity at the Tralee facility and create additional highly skilled roles across engineering, production, quality, logistics and support functions by 2029.

It builds on Astellas’ previously announced €330 million investment in the new state of the art biopharmaceutical facility in Tralee.

Owen has led the Tralee operation through the development of the greenfield site while simultaneously building the team that will bring the facility into operation.

Colin Murphy, Founder and Chairman of Ingenious Media, said: “Owen’s recognition is very well deserved. What has been achieved at Tralee is significant, both for Astellas and for Ireland’s wider biopharma manufacturing sector.”

“This award recognises Owen’s leadership, but it also gives us an opportunity to congratulate the wider Astellas Tralee team on what they have achieved and on the next stage of the journey ahead.”

Owen Moore said: “I am honoured to receive this recognition, which I accept it on behalf of the entire Astellas Tralee team. Everything we have achieved to date has been the result of the commitment, expertise and collaboration of colleagues across Tralee, Ireland and the wider global Astellas organisation.

“I would like to thank my colleagues, our partners, IDA Ireland, Kerry County Council and the wider community for their continued support. We are proud of what has been accomplished so far and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to grow Tralee into a world-class biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility.”

Owen will join the other 2026 Person of the Month recipients at the BioPharma & LifeSciences Connected Awards, taking place at the Radisson Blu, Little Island, Cork on 28th January 2027.

The monthly recipients will be recognised at the ceremony, with the overall 2026 BioPharma & LifeSciences Connected Person of the Year selected from the 2026 recipients.
