A TRALEE resident wished to express thanks to everyone who supported a charity event which helped a children’s home in Africa.

In November 2025 Eddie Forster from Tralee, his sister Elizabeth McNamara from Dublin, and nephew James McCrohan from Kerry completed a parachute jump in aid of the Kildane Mehret Children’s Home in Ethiopia, a place very close to their hearts.

“The children’s home is more than a shelter; it is a place of hope, growth, and future possibilities for some of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable children. The jump was undertaken to help ensure that this vital work can continue,” said Eddie, who is originally from Dublin.

Thanks to the incredible generosity and support they raised €7,000 for the organisation.

“This achievement would not have been possible without the kindness of so many people. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our families in Dublin, Kerry, Tanzania, and Australia for their encouragement and donations,” said Eddie.

“A special word of thanks goes to the many local businesses in Kerry.  As well as one generous business in Dublin, who supported us along the way. We are also deeply grateful to our friends, neighbours, and work colleagues here in Tralee who contributed so generously and cheered us on,” added Eddie.

Receiving the cheque are two of the Nuns who run the home. Sr. Lutgarda (Ethiopia), Nicola Brennan (former Irish Ambassador of Ethiopia) and Sr. Camillus (Ethiopia).
