FOODSHARE Kerry has received a donation of a repurposed Tesco Ireland grocery home delivery van, helping the local community organisation continue its vital work supporting individuals and families experiencing food poverty across Kerry.
The vehicle will play an important role in helping Foodshare Kerry collect, transport and distribute food to those who need it most, enabling the organisation to continue reaching communities across the county with essential food support.
Foodshare Kerry is a Tralee-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fighting food poverty and reducing waste by rescuing surplus food from local businesses and suppliers.

They distribute this food to charities and community groups, bridging the gap between food waste and hunger, ensuring it helps people in need.
Working to tackle food poverty across Kerry, the community group collects surplus food from Tesco’s Tralee store twice a week through its partnership with FoodCloud, ensuring good food reaches people who need it most rather than going to waste.
The donation comes at a time when Foodshare Kerry continues to see strong demand for its services. Tesco Ireland and Foodshare Kerry have worked together several times, with the organisation receiving support through Tesco’s Community Fund on three occasions, securing over €1,324 to help fund its work in the local community.
The latest donation is an example of Tesco Ireland’s That’s Every Little Helps commitment in action. As grocery home delivery vehicles reach the end of their service with Tesco, they are given a second lease of life by being donated to community organisations and groups across Ireland, helping them continue making a meaningful difference in their local communities.
Sinéad Donnelly Hickey from Foodshare Kerry said: “This van will make a real difference to our work. Every week, we collect and distribute food to people across Kerry who are facing difficult circumstances, and having a reliable vehicle is essential. We are incredibly grateful to Tesco Ireland for their continued support, which will help us reach even more people and continue providing food in a dignified and respectful way.”
Shane Faherty, Business Support and Distribution Director at Tesco Ireland, said: “The work Foodshare Kerry does every day to support individuals and families across Kerry is remarkable, and we are thrilled to offer our support. That’s Every Little helps is about creating meaningful impact in the areas where we operate. From donating surplus food and supporting local projects to giving a vehicle a new lease of life to serve the community, we are always searching for ways to give back. We’re delighted that this van will help Foodshare Kerry to continue their vital work in helping those who need it most in Kerry.”
