Co League 2018 – Round 4 John Mitchels v St Mary’s
We played St Mary’s in Round 4 of the Co League at home last Saturday evening. Conditions were perfect with a slight breeze in favour of St Mary’s in the 1st half.

John Mitchels raced into an early lead with a point from play within 30 seconds from Alan O’Donoghue which was followed by points from Conor Hurley, a converted free from James Duggan and a point from play from Niall Sheehy.

It took 14 minutes into the game before St Mary’s registered a score which was a converted free from Daniel Daly. Bryan Costello scored a point from play which was followed by a St  Mary’s point from play by Paul O’Donoghue. This left the score at 0-05 to 0-02 in favour of Mitchels after the 1st quarter.

Alan O’Donoghue edged us ahead by a further point but the remainder of the 1st half was dominated by St Mary’s by scoring 2-04. The goals were scored by Jack Daly and Daniel Daly and Mitchels could only manage 1 point from play by James Duggan. Leaving the half time score John Mitchels 0-07 St Mary’s 2-06.

The 2nd half opened with a point from play by Daniel Daly stretching St Mary’s lead to 6 points. With a mountain to climb, Mitchels rallied with 3 points in a trot all by frees. St Mary’s steadied the ship with a Bryan Sheehan free which was followed by a point from play from Alan O’Donoghue leaving the scoreline John Mitchels 0-11, St Mary’s  2-08 heading into the final quarter.

With the margin down to 3 points Mitchels rose their game again with a converted free from Mikey Kelliher. St Mary’s replied with a point from play by Daniel Daly. Mitchels dominated the remainder of the game with points from play by Wayne Duggan, James Duggan and Alan O’Donoghue to level the match. Final Score John Mitchels  0-15, St Mary’s 2-09.

George Lowe Registrar will be available to collect Membership Fees between 7.30-8.30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Stephen Brosnan, Juvenile Registrar will be available to collect Juvenile Membership Fees between 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 noon on Sunday Mornings.

It is essential that all Juveniles are registered. Unregistered Players are not covered by the GAA Insurance Scheme. Closing date for registration is March 31st 2018.

John Mitchels U8 boys and girls had a great session on Sunday last. We started everyone off with a good warm up followed by some drills and finished with 2 cracking games. We also had two new members join us this week and it was great to see them get a big welcome from the rest of the group and enjoy the fun and games. Remember folks everyone welcome at our juvenile academy.
Training continues next Sunday morning from 10.30am to 12.00pm until then kids keep on practicing!!

John Mitchels are commencing their Clothes Collection again for 2018 so please donate any unwanted Clothes and Textiles (clean re-wearable clothes, paired shoes, belts, handbags, curtains, towels, bed linen, soft toys are accepted) Where possible please donate at least 3+ bags – this really does raise much needed funds for our Club. Please drop items to the the Complex, Ballyseedy.

Our Bingo continues on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights. Bingo is a vital fundraiser for the Club and all funds raised from the Bingo goes directly back into the Club and all support is greatly appreciated. Any member who wishes to volunteer can do so by giving their details to any club officer.

Our Sports Complex at Camp Ballyseedy is available for bookings on the Sports Hall and All Weather pitch. The Complex is also open for children’s parties. MERCHANDISE: Please note that all club merchandise is now available for purchasing only through Henneberys Sports Shop, Ashe St, Tralee and is no longer for sale at our complex in Ballyseedy.
