While our other age groups have been playing away over the past few weeks there hasn’t been anything happening  competition wise for our U14 and U16 girls…. Well ladies you’re in for a bumper pack of games over the next few weeks you’ll be delighted to hear…
The North Kerry League and Championship are starting in September so plenty of games …

Kerins O’ Rahilly U12s after their win against Corca Dhuibhne last Monday

A fine show of colours as our blue and whites took on the dearg agus bán cailíní from Corca Dhuibhne last Wednesday in Ballyrickard. It was a low scoring game with us missing a few scoring chances.
Our captain on the night was Aoife O’ Connell. We opened the game with the first score with a point from Lexi Keane. Scores were also taken by Córa Meehan, a second point from Lexi Keane, a point by Aoife O’ Connell from a free and Kelly Hayes who came on as a sub and scored a goal. A great game was had by Córa Meehan who as always gives it her all, a young lady to keep an eye on in the future! Aisling Donnelly was like a little terrier on the pitch and was letting nobody away with anything. Mia Molloy was guarding the back line with her life and not much was getting through.
Allie Kerins made her debut outfield and played very well, an all rounder definitely!
Final Score:
Kerins O”Rahilly 1-04
Corca Dhuibhne 1-03

Given the increased transmissibility of the virus and levels in the community currently, it is now more important than ever that the Return to Play Guidelines issued previously are strictly followed if the playing season is to pass off successfully. Everyone needs to be diligent in following the guidelines.

Juvenile Notes

A nice Sunday morning – add footballs, fun, encouragement, coaches and parents….. What do you get ….An extremely happy bunch of youngsters enjoying life. This is what GAA is about…..
A big shout out to all coaches for their encouragement and  enthusiasm, giving each girl and boy memories that will last forever.
Thank you! Our Juvenile Academy is booming and long may it last!

Our youngest are really taking to their football! It is here the introduction to Gaelic football starts for our young stars. Training was a joy to watch and well done to everyone involved. It’s great to see such support from from parents and families.
Last week, Aidan Kelly was our “Player of the Week.” Aidan has come on so much and has a wonderful attitude, well deserved Aidan!

Like the U5 boys this is where our young ladies master the ABC’s of football ( Agility, Balance and Coordination) with fun being the central theme.
Last Sunday, their enjoyable training session finished with a “Happy Birthday “ sing along for Vanessa O’ Connor who turned 4. Happy birthday to Vanessa who was all ready with her hair done in preparation for her party.
Our “Player of the Week “ was Mia Doyle who just eats , drinks and sleeps football. Mia is very chatty and also enjoys the social aspect of Juvenile Academy which is very important also for children.

Great planning as always for the U7 training sessions. Our coaches arrived nice and early  to set up their drills as always and plenty of variety weekly  so training is never monotonous!
We had 2 “Players of the Week “ last Sunday , Cian O’ Brien who is looking forward to taking after his Dad and older brother playing seniors in years to come and bring home a Championship medal and also don the green and gold for Kerry like his brother Gavin.
Our second “Player of the Week “ was Evan O’ Connor who was also chuffed out with his medal and had a lovely roguish smile when his name was called. Evan also in time to come will wear his club colours with pride to bring home a Championship medal.

Our coaches are always set up and ready to go as soon as the girls arrive and this week was no different. They enjoyed a fun filled morning of skills and games showing the coaches that they are practicing at home too. Well done to this weeks U8 Player of the week Aoife. Aoife showed great skills and team work. Keep up the good work.

U9 Team talk with coach Declan Quill during fun games in Ballyrickard

More action again last Sunday morning for our boys in Healy Park when we hosted Na Gaeil in fun games. We divided the boys into four teams .
Na Gaeil and Strand Road put  in stellar performances . Well done to all teams and to Na Gaeil GAA Club, coaches and families for visiting.

Kerins O’ Rahilly U13 Boys with one of their coaches Richie Roche before their game against St. Michaels, Foilmore last Sunday

Hard luck to our U13s last Sunday afternoon who battled hard but came up short on their game against St. Michaels , Foilmore. There was great football played and the work rate and effort from everyone was unquestionable
Well done to a panel that has put in a great year of training. Keep it going lads, you’re a wonderful bunch of young men.

The boys are enjoying training with their coaches who have planned out each training session and finishing off with a game at the end of training.
The boys are an enthusiastic bunch and showing great improvement in all areas. Keep up the good work and practice every chance you get boys.

Best wishes to the lads who are home to Dr. Crokes on Wednesday evening(tbc)in Strand Road pitch in the Co. League semi final.

Best wishes to all our youngsters who are returning to school this week…. A special mention to those in our Academy who are starting big school for the  first time and to those who are making the big move to second level. Enjoy! You might not think so but these are the best days of your lives outside of training and playing with the best club around…,
Thank you to the hard-working staff at our schools for all their hard work preparing for their safe return. Go n-eirí an t-ádh libh!

After 34 years in the wonderful corner shop in Strand Road who has always served our community so well Eileen and Jimmy Moran turned the key in the door last Friday evening for the final time. Many friends, children and the community gathered to bid them farewell and wish them the best of luck.
We wish you both the best in your retirement and thank you for the many happy memories of our trips into the shop.
We wish Mary McLoughlin , who is no stranger to us behind the counter and her sister Eileen Shanahan well in their new venture. We are looking forward to supporting you.

Our condolences to the family of Birdie Connolly who passed away last week. Birdie’s family have many ties to our club , one being  her brother John Dowling who was great for recruiting and bringing boys to training and games back in the day.
Rest in peace!
