Senior Championship – Flying Start in Currow
Our Senior team laid down an impressive opening marker in Group 4 of the Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Football Club Championship with a powerful 4-20 to 1-14 victory over Castleisland Desmonds in Currow on Saturday evening.
After playing into a stiff breeze during a tight first half, goals from Ben Hanafin and Barry John Keane helped secure a 2-7 to 1-6 interval lead. The Blues turned on the style in the second period, with Tomás Kennedy and Conor Hayes netting further goals as Strand Road pulled away in ideal conditions.
Darragh O’Connor finished with six points, while Cormac Coffey made a fine return to the starting XV following his time abroad.
Ben Hanafin delivered a brilliant performance from wing-back, while Jake Foley and Ben O’Brien laid the foundation by securing vital kickout possession throughout. Seamus Cahill, Gearoid Dillane, and Daniel Bowler excelled in defence, with Conor O’Sullivan setting the tone through his tireless work rate.
Attention now turns to Round 2, where we travel to face Glenflesk next Sunday, August 16th, at 4:00 PM in Glenflesk. Make sure to travel and bring the noise for the lads! 🔵⚪
