A KERRY player has claimed the €1 million Lotto Plus 1 top prize from the Lotto draw back on July 18 after a spur-of-the-moment ticket purchase in the village of Portmagee
The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold on Thursday, July 16 at Deo’s Shop and Portmagee Post Office. The winner only decided to buy a ticket while stopping off for an ice cream with a friend.
“If I hadn’t been there that day, I probably wouldn’t have bought one,” they said. The life-changing win went unnoticed for several days until the player heard a radio report about an unclaimed €1 million prize sold in Portmagee.

“As they called out the details of the store, it all started to sound very familiar,” they recalled.
After rushing to find their ticket and realising they were the winner, they shared the news with friends, who “couldn’t believe it”.
Still coming to terms with the win, the new millionaire says it “still feels like a dream” and hopes to put the prize towards a new home and perhaps a well-earned trip away.
