County League Div 1 Rd 3
Kerins O Rahillys 0-12     Rathmore 0-07
Rathmore were the visitors last Sunday in round 3 of the county league.
In a wet but calm afternoon scores were difficult to come by for both sides.
We opened the scoring after 6 minutes with a point from Gearoid Dillane. Cormac Coffey soon added to that with a well taken score after he cut through the middle.
At the first half water break we led by four points to two.
Rathmore were proving very difficult to break down. But with the half entering it’s last ten minutes we hit our best patch in the game , racking up quick points from Jack Savage, Cormac Coffey, Barry John Keane and Gearoid Savage to leave the score at half time , 9-3 to the men in blue.
The second half would prove to be a dour affair with both sides finding scores hard to come by . The home team scored the first score of the half with a pointed free from Jack Savage. Rathmore then gained a foothold around the middle, and their efforts were rewarded with three unanswered points to leave the scores 11-6 at the water break. On resumption neither team managed to add to their respective tally for a considerable time. As the game entered the closing stages Rathmore narrowed the gap to four, but the impressive Cormac Coffey kicked only our third point of the half to finish off the contest. Overall players and management will be happy with the result , considering we were without so many regulars , again the goalkeeper and defence looked very assured and must be happy with only conceding seven points. Shane Brosnan and Karl Mullins battled hard throughout , it was also encouraging to see Diarmuid O Sullivan make an appearance after a long time on the sidelines and his physique made a telling contribution around the middle.
The victory puts us in a good position heading into the last two rounds.

Healy Park, Ballyrickard  was a buzz with excitement and giddiness last Sunday morning as the young stars of the future from our club had fun and enjoyed their morning’s football as always.
All age groups showed us what we’ve all been missing during the long months of covid lockdown.
Each girl and boy is improving all the time  and show great signs of progression.

Echoes of encouragement for our youngsters could be heard from our coaches  and parents alike resulting in our young girls and boys  showing belief in their ability and demonstrating the skills of the game in fun games. Thanks to all of you for staying to watch, support and encourage your children. It means so much to them.
Don’t forget to call over for your cuppa during training!
Our summer camp is almost full. We can only take so many so we would strongly advise to reserve a place if you need to for your child. We will be closing this off when full.

Kerins O’ Rahilly Team
We are away to Castleisland Desmonds next week in the plate final of the North Kerry League. More details to follow.
Strand Road Blues
We were  away in Abbeydorney  for our  match on Tuesday 29th.  Every one of the girls gave 110% but we came up against a very strong Abbeydorney Kittens team ! Our girls played to the bitter end to no avail as it was not our day. We showed great improvement in every aspect of the game and all the girls came off the pitch with a smile on their faces.
This year we made the decision to enter 2 teams in competitions as we have over 30 girls and all girls need to get more game time. This , we knew would help the girls’ development and we also brought up some U10s to play . We also knew that we would be coming up against extremely strong teams who would just have the one team.
Some of our girls have only started playing this year …
We are very proud of each one of you , you give it your absolute best. You are all learning week by week, keep up the great work! There’s plenty more football to come !

A sun drenched Dr. Crokes pitch in Upper Lewis Road was the venue for Round 3 of the Co. League, division 2. Both teams were quite evenly matched but as the game progressed Dr. Crokes did get a hold on the game. There were some excellent scores taken on the day by both sides.
Huge credit must go to all of our girls and their coaches on their brilliant performance. Katie Nix was coolness personified and her natural abilities shone out on the day.  Lily O’ Brien and  Keelan Coffey made some powerful runs on the day and Ella O’ Connor was on her toes throughout the game.
Final score Kerins O’ Rahilly 6-11, Dr. Crokes 7-15. Katie Nix scored 5-08, . Sophie Hassett 1-01, Sadhbh Horgan and Keelan Coffey 1 point each.
In round 4 , we are home to our neighbours Austin Stacks on Tuesday in Healy Park, Ballyrickard. Best of luck to everyone!
