FOR the third year in a row Tralee Lions Club assisted the Cashel Ward in University Hospital Kerry and the palliative care service for children with life limiting conditions through its fundraising activities.
€7,000 worth of Corrib Oil vouchers was presented to Director of Nursing UHK Jane Shanahan and team by Tralee Lions Club on Wednesday.
Over the past two years, Tralee Lions Club has donated €10,000 in these vouchers, but with the rising cost of fuel it was decided to increase the amount this year to €7,000, amounting to €17,000 over the past three years.

“These vouchers have provided practical help to the families of the children for the cost of fuel to attend appointments in Dublin and Cork and/or basic things like home heating oil in homes where often parents have had to give up work to care for the children,” commented Corinne Evans, President Tralee Lions Club.
The funds have been raised primarily through Tralee Lions Club Annual Golf Classic and various other fundraising activities including the annual street collection.
This year a concert in Siamsa Tire by local artists and choirs to celebrate the 60th Year of Tralee Lions Club assisted the fundraising effort.
