IT’S just days away now until the amazing week of racing, fun and fashion that is the seven day Listowel Harvest Racing Festival.
The meeting is traditionally popular as a celebration of the year’s harvest, with people taking time off work and flying in from all over the world to enjoy the quality jump and flat racing, convivial atmosphere and good fun that have been synonymous with Listowel Races since 1858.
The festival opens on this Sunday, September 20 with Kinisla Family Day, a fun-filled day designed to get the whole family into the Harvest Festival spirit.

There will be meet-and-greets with favourite cartoon characters, alpacas, face painting, balloon giveaways, bouncing castles and a mini disco, with free children’s entertainment sponsored by Garvey’s SuperValu.
And this year, there may even be a visitor from another world… as Alfie the Alien is expected to make a special guest appearance. To celebrate his return, there will also be prizes for anyone who dresses up as an alien from any solar system on the day.
The race card is sponsored by Kinisla and the feature race is the Kinisla Handicap Steeplechase of €45,000.
Highlights over the week of the Festival include the Grade A €200,000 Guinness Kerry National on Wednesday; the Ryle Menswear Best Dressed Man Competition on Thursday; and McElligotts Kia Ladies Day on Friday, featuring judges Aoife Dunican and Frankie Foster, with a fabulous holiday to Sorrento as the first prize.
The festival concludes on Saturday with its 15th Sustainable Style Competition, celebrating vintage, pre-loved and creative fashion, while live music, TG4 coverage, family entertainment, value party packs and corporate hospitality add to the experience throughout the week.
