Sam Maguire Cup Visits Milltown/Castlemaine GAA:
Sam Maguire Cup
Milltown/Castlemaine GAA is delighted to announce that the Sam Maguire Cup will be coming to the Paddy Burke Memorial Park in Milltown on Tuesday evening (TONIGHT), October 11th at 6:30pm.
After a terrific year for our Kerry senior football team in which the county claimed its 38th All-Ireland Senior Football Championship success, it will be a fantastic experience for our club members to have the opportunity to come and see Sam Maguire up close at the club grounds.
We are also very pleased to confirm to our members that a number of the successful Kerry squad will be in attendance on the evening which is sure to make the occasion extra special.
The club would ask that all members either wear their Kerry GAA colours or else our own club colours.
We look forward to seeing you all later this evening. Ciarraí Abú!

Mid Kerry Minor Football Championship: Semi-Final Result
Hard luck to our Milltown/Castlemaine Minor side (U-17s) who lost out narrowly to Keel/Listry on Saturday evening in Keel in the Mid Kerry Minor Football Championship Semi-Final. After a tight contest all through where the game ebbed and flowed it was Keel/Listry who ran out three point victors on a score of 1-13 to 1-10. They will now advance to take on Laune Rangers in the final.

Congratulations to the Mid Kerry Senior Football team and management especially our own club representatives in Pa Wren, Eanna O’Connor, Gavin Horan, Garry Murphy (Selector), Shane O’Sullivan (Strength and Conditioning) and Liam Doherty (Stats) who had a hard fought two point victory last weekend in the Quarter-Finals of the Garvey’s Supervalu County Senior Football Championship over Templenoe on a score of 0-13 to 0-11 at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney.

They have now advanced to the Semi-Finals of the Garvey’s Supervalu County Senior Football Championship where they will meet Feale Rangers on Saturday, October 15th at 7:15pm in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. Extra-Time is playable if required. Best wishes to all the players and management team involved and we would encourage our own club members to get behind the squad this weekend.

Congratulations:
Well done to Milltown/Castlemaine Senior player Eanna O’Connor who was selected as part of the Garvey’s Supervalu County Senior Football Championship ‘Team of the Week’ which was announced following Mid Kerry’s victory over Templenoe at the weekend. Cromane’s Darren Houlihan and Keel’s Keith Evans also were present in the selection.

U-7s: End of Season Challenge Match
Milltown/Castlemaine’s U-7s concluded their 2022 season on Sunday with a match against near neighbours Listry at the Paddy Burke Memorial Park in Milltown. Conditions weren’t ideal with plenty of downpours but both sets of players adapted well and enjoyed the game. There were some brilliant performances and team work by our lads whereby they showed off their skills that were developed over the course of the season. The group were presented with a medal, goodie bag and Milltown/Castlemaine headband to acknowledge the great commitment they gave over the season. It was a lovely morning of fun and both sides thoroughly enjoyed it. Special thanks also to the management and parents/guardians for their dedication at the training sessions and matches throughout the year. Well done!

GAA 4 All training has now finished for the 2022 season and the management and committee members are now looking forward to the medal presentation for all the players’ hard work next week (new time and date to be confirmed.) The organising group would like to thank all of the incredible coaches throughout the year for their selfless dedication to looking after our players and to all the players parents for their participation and bringing the players to training. A big thank you to our Junior coaches also who have been fantastic and to our Milltown/Castlemaine GAA club for providing us with the means to host training every week. A special thank you to the organising committee of the under 11 blitz in September which raised amazing funds for our group, we cannot wait to put these funds to good use in the form of training our coaches, purchasing new specific equipment for our group. Thank you to all who have helped out in 2022.

U-8 Girls: End of Season Fun Blitz

Milltown/Castlemaine’s U-8 Girls concluded their 2022 year on Saturday morning when they hosted an action packed and fun filled end of season blitz at the Paddy Burke Memorial Park to round off what has been a most enjoyable number of months led by their fantastic team of coaches who put in a sterling effort every week to ensure the players had the opportunity to flourish and develop their skills in an ideal environment.
The blitz commenced at 10:30am with participating teams including Beaufort, Firies, Keel, Laune Rangers and Fossa. Grateful appreciation to all these clubs for travelling and being involved on the day.
It was a wonderful morning of football, played in great spirits which all the players, management team members and parents/guardians were entertained by from all the competing clubs in scintillating sunshine.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who made the event a resounding success including our referees, ground maintenance personnel, car parking attendants, shop and cafe assistants, pitch setup personnel, blitz fixture planners and of course to all the players and coaches who made the event so worthwhile.
Our U-8 Girls team had their medal presentation ceremony last week also where Kerry Senior Ladies Footballer and MKL Player Caoimhe Evans was on hand as the Special Guest to reward the players for their great work throughout the season.
We hope all the players and coaches get a nice break over the coming months now and return refreshed in 2023 for more action!
