MUNSTER Technological University (MTU) welcomed healthcare, education and technology experts from across Europe to its Kerry campus on June 8 for the first face-to-face meeting of the Future of Healthcare (FoH) Erasmus+ project, funded by the European Commission.
The international partnership brings together organisations from Ireland, Poland, Italy, Türkiye and the Czech Republic to explore how healthcare professionals can be better prepared for the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation in healthcare.
MTU is coordinating the project through Emer Thompson, Healthcare Expert, and Dr Kristin Brogan, Project Coordinator, with Dr Valerie McGrath supporting communications and dissemination activities.

The Future of Healthcare project aims to bridge the gap between technological innovation and human-centred care.
Through international collaboration, partners will develop a Future of Healthcare Framework and an online learning platform featuring training modules on AI fundamentals, healthcare data management, ethical and legal considerations, communication, teamwork and critical thinking.
While AI technologies are increasingly shaping healthcare systems worldwide, the project places a strong emphasis on ensuring that healthcare professionals retain the empathy, communication skills and ethical awareness that remain central to high-quality patient care.
A total of 14 representatives from the partner organisations attended the workshop, which provided an opportunity to establish project priorities, share expertise and begin developing resources that will support healthcare professionals across Europe.
