Comedy Drama     One Ordination and a Donation, our comedy drama, premiered in the clubhouse on Wednesday the 27th of February and had its grand finale on Saturday the 2nd March. To say that it was well received is an understatement!!

Hilarious from start to finish, it left each nights audience with laughter induced cramps!! A show like this doesn’t happen without effort so we’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made it such a success: Mary Quirke for delivering, (yet again) a superb script; her able assistant Margaret Doody who was always on hand; the cast, for their dedication and time over the past several months; the behind-the-scenes crew, who pulled everything together so expertly,to all those who made sandwiches each night and to Sean and all his staff in Na Gaeil, for accommodating us in every possible way.

Seniors    The seniors played Churchill in the St. Brendan’s Board Final on Sunday morning in Churchill. This game will be remembered more for the weather conditions that it was played in than the match itself.

Rain and sleet turned into heavy snow showers as the game went on and visibility became very poor for the players. But they battled bravely and great credit is due to both sets of players and to the referee Paul Hayes for sticking to their task.

Na Gaeil playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half were first out of the blocks and dominated the first quarter scoring four points through debutant Tadhg Lynch, Jordan Murphy, Diarmaid Herlihy and a Dara Devine pointed free. But Churchill found their rythmn and the second quarter belonged to them with points coming from Ivan Parker (2), a Michael O’Brien pointed free, and a well struck goal from Ivan Parker. Half time score: Na Gaeil: 0-04; Churchill: 1-03.

Churchill kept the momentum going in the 2nd half with Des McCarthy and Jack Dolan scoring points from play and Michael O’Brien pointing four frees. Dara Devine kept the scoreboard ticking over for Na Gaeil with three pointed frees. Final score Na Gaeil: 0-07; Churchill: 1-09.  Well done to Churchill on a well deserved victory.
